I just read that Disney got rid of the "free" magic bands? Is that true? And if so, what is now being offered, and how much are they?

Yes it’s true. Bands start at $10 for solid colors and go up from there depending on design

Yes, "free" MBs are a not-so-distant memory. You can still purchase MBs with your resort stay. They are $10 for plain colors and go up from there. Some specialty bands are going for $25 apiece.

Yes. But based on the age, they won't work for automatic linking of ride photos. They will continue to work for any function where you need to physically touch the band to a reader (park entry, room entry, room charging, etc.).

Thats only if we purchase the picture / have the photo package, correct?

Plain colored bands aren't available online at The Disney Store. Only expensive patterned bands.

Ok well then free magic bands wouldn't apply to you as an offsite guest. You wouldn't have the option available through MDE
