Magic Bands

I am staying at Swan and Dolphin Dec 22-30 2013. This is my first time off site. I called WDW info to find out if we would be able to buy magic bands as we would be staying off site. They said they are planning to roll them out to "the public" before the end of the year. I am so confused, and would, of course, like to be able to try the Magic bands. I did read the magic band thread, but I am still confused. I realize right now they are available to only select resort guests. My Question is IN THE FUTURE (dec 22-30) might they be available for purchase by those of us at Staying at Swan and Dolphin?????

Yes, once the Magic Bands are out of testing and officially implemented in the parks, they will be available to purchase for guests not staying at WDW resorts.

Thank you for the reply. Do you know how this will work? I was planning to purchase my park tickets this month...should I be waiting to purchase the tickets? Or if I buy them now and the MB's do happen to become available to those off site, will I then be able to link my tickets to the band??

Keep in mind that staying at the S/D is not considered as 'staying offsite'. They are not Disney owned, but also not offsite. With the control Disney is trying to have over the testing and introduction, only Disney owned resorts would be in the initial test phases.
