I'm learning that you can do just about everything on the disney app, so why get magic bands? I would love to hear peoples opinions on this. Also, I have 3 of us linked to our resort reservation. I have one joining us later in the trip, so they will be added when they arrive. If I decide to do magic bands, how can I order a fourth when only 3 of us show for the pre-order magic bands?

If you are buying a photo pass you will get surprise videos and pics automatically... it's kinda fun...
But technically only one person has to have the band cause it takes a pic of the whole ride car.
The photographers easily scan your band as well.. not that you cant open your phone it's just really easy.

I dont use the purchase items function... because use a gift card I bought at Target redcard. I have a screen shot of the card I moved everything to as my background. So I dont have to open my phone fully.

Our son has a das so we just scan our bands and walk in.
Same if you are purchasing G+ or Lightning Lane

You have to purchase them all at once. But if you decide you want one later.. they sell them all over the parks and hotel stores.

We found the Magic Band more convenient. You just snap it on your wrist in the morning and leave it on all day. Easier then constantly taking your phone out of your pocket/purse/backpack. Also avoids the problem of dropping/losing your phone if you are carrying it in your hand and put it down somewhere. On some rides where you might get wet or jostled around, Magic Band is a better choice. I don't care if my band gets wet, sure don't want to chance damaging my phone in a ride where you get unexpectedly wet.

We too prefer to tap our wrists (MB or Apple Watch) for park entry and now LL entry instead of getting our phones out each time.

You won’t be able to order a discounted MB for the 4th person unless you add him to the resort reservation. You can order one at full price from the Disney Store online or buy one at WDW - they’re available all over.

You don't NEED a magic band, but I really like the ease o fusing it for everything. I could use my phone, but I don't want to get it out every time I am purchasing something like at Food & Wine. I watched many have issues tapping in with their Apple watch and never had that issue with my MB. I don't think they have the technology set up correctly for that to work seamlessly yet, but I'm sure they will get there.

Nobody in our house wears a watch, we easily forget our (previously free & still working) Magic Bands…..

Mostly we locate the ‘hard tickets’ we keep in our pockets with money, ID, credit card(s) - that we never forget.

I am by no means frugal with my fashion statements, but paying to accessorize with a Magic Band is lost on me.

However,a functional souvenir for $30 seems like a better investment than Ears or a $300 light saber.

Lastly, I am of the mind that my wallet is more secure inside my Park-approved (that’s a joke) Disney Cargo Shorts and!or only-used-at-Disney Fanny Pack…..than being the new plaything on my arm. Thought of differently, I would never snap my credit card to my wrist, not sure a Magic Band is different.

But times are a changing…..

Final laugh, I’ll Magic Band when I can Venmo my Crypto (not really).

We have been here for two days without Magic Bands and I plan to buy them today for the rest of our trip. I had originally thought I'd save the money since we are at the Swan and couldn't use it to pay or as a room key anyway. And yes, technically Magic Mobile works on my phone.

However, it's been a pain. Entering the park isn't a big deal, but every time we go through a LL entrance, I have to pull out my phone, open the wallet and select each person's ticket, scan and then pick the next. Usually it worked, sometimes it would keep jumping back to the pass I already scanned. I'd rather we each just scan our wrists!

I never did like the magic bands, never wore one even when they were free. I just get a card so much better just stick it in my back pocket. Lots of people love them to each their own. There is no right or wrong answer.

I like the ease of using them to get into the parks and to scan for photo pass. We were there in Sept. and my son's SO didn't have one so she had to use her hard ticket to get into the parks. It was easy enough to do but sort of a pain for her to have to pull her little wristlet out of the back pack or stroller and rummage through it each time. We don't use ours to charge to, we tend to stay at Dolphin so you can't but even if we stay at a Disney resort I prefer to use my cc and buy a gift card and use that. I don't like all the little charges on my cc. We tend to go during a festival so I buy the gift cards on the wrist bands, stick that around my arm and use it. I don't like using my phone to get in, half the time it doesn't work. You certainly don't need them, like I said son's SO didn't have one and didn't want to buy one so got by just fine using an old fashioned ticket. We just used ours for pictures if needed. I have all my old ones and still take two or three when I go.
