Magic Bands with Annual passes??

My family are coming to Orlando for a month this summer because of this we have had to get annual passes to WDW as from the UK you can only get up to 21 days and we wanted the flexibility to go to Disney the whole trip. It works out cheaper when you calculate parking and the discounts you get. However we are not staying on property mainly because we enjoy the freedom of a villa and not being on Disney property the whole time. However I am unsure how the whole free MagicBands thing will work. I know with a pass you get a set of free ones but after research I found out that you had to have activated the pass then you can get them delivered if you live in US that is. So I'm unsure how you do it I was just under the impression it be similar to if you were on property and can select the name and colour on the My Disney Experience. I was wondering if anyone more knowledgeable knows or has dealt with this situation before. Thank you if you read this whole thing I appreciates it. I'm new to the boards but I've been a fan of the DIS for a while but never thought of writing on here until know as I thought some of you awesome people could help.

Hi Louis and welcome. DH and I usually go for a month (and sometimes longer) and will be there again this year a month tomorrow! We usually buy the 21 day passes and then convert them to APs when we are there. Worth it for the parking and cheaper than buying MYW tickets or another UK pass. This has worked out well for us in the past although this year I'm not so sure given the price hike and also the poor exchange rate. However as I plan to retire in October it could be we manage a wee sneaky week or so at some other point!
As far as Magic Bands are concerned, we have stayed on site for the first 10 days and so have organised our bands prior to our visit and have then picked them up at Reception. Our APs are then added to our bands once we have converted them. A couple of years ago though we fancied different colours and organised for the new AP Bands to be delivered to our off site rented villa. Worked beautifully for us. As far as I am aware you can't choose bands over here as you need to have a US shipping address.

Thank you so you can get them just you would have to mail them to your room. I'm not too worried as being the person I ordered mine online just because I wanted to make sure I got the one I wanted. So would you go to guest services and get them to mail them to you? Do you remember how long they took I read somewhere 10 days.

We ordered ours at Guest Services and they said about 10 days. I can't remember now exactly how long it took but do remember they were there much more quickly.

Once you have active annual passes there will be an order appear on your MDE account. You can have this shipped to any US address so once you have the passes go online and order you bands
