Hi
I'm so excited as next April we back at wdw - we haven't been back home ( DVC members) since 2011.

Dh still has 5 days of theme park tickets ( non exp) left from previous visits - I know we can get these put on his magic band at the ticket desk at a park- right?

Now on looking through it seems I only have a couple of water park days so I need to buy new tickets for me.

I've been pricing tickets and it would seem I can get a uk guest 14 day ultimate ticket for about the same cost as 4 - 5 day hopper.

Now we r staying 8 nights at a DVC hotel then we have 3 night DCL and then back to DVC hotel for the last 3 nights

Would I be able to buy the uk 14 day ticket as I guess I'll be getting 2 magic bands ? Any ideas how it could work - the magic band idea is all new to me and I'd really appreciate some advice.

Many thanks

The simple way to think of magic bands is they are like a band card they just read the information in your account.

You will need to add any tickets you want to use with your magic bands to your MDE account.

Once you get your second set of bands you will be able to use both bands interchangeably :thumbsup2

If you get the ultimate ticket and are not going to uses the water park days take the ticket with you still and they will switch to an RIFD card for you.

Thank you for your reply .

Do the bands come in the post prior to arrival at Wdw?

Sorry for not fully understanding - how are the bands interchangeable? Is it not one band for the 8 days before the cruise and one band for after? Like the old kttw cards used to be?

Also what is a RIFD card?

Many thanks

They do not post the bands internationally they will be at the front desk when you check in.

They are not like the old KTTW card as they do not store anything although you will get a new set each time you check in for a reservation.

Once you have them and they are on your account you can use any band you like - it doesn't have to be the band you got for that stay. I currently have 6 active bands and I change them to match my outfit :thumbsup2

The tickets you have currently will be on the old tyvec card type material - all tickets now have to have an RFID chip to be able to be read at the turnstiles. If you take your old ticket to a ticket window they will just swap it over for you to a new RFID card ticket :goodvibes

Thank you for your reply

So do the bands just store your ticket info , fast pass reservations and dining reservations?

I like the fact that you can get two different colours to match outfits

Still not quite sure how my split stay would work as I'd have two bands but 1x 14 night ticket?

I'm Sorry

Just thought do U still
Get a kttw card to open your room door?

no they don't store anything. Your MyDisneyExperience account is where everything is stored.

Your MBs only store a unique ID associated to your MDX account

to make it simple :

your MyDisneyExperience account is your house, your tickets and reservations (ADR, FP+ and so on) are inside the house

your magic band is your front door key.
that key will unlock the door, enabling the system to go fetch the tickets inside.

you can have several keys for the same lock, and they come in different colors.
nothing is stored on your front door key (Magic Band), everything is stored inside your house (MyDisneyExperience), if you see what I mean.

as above, both MBs are the same key opening the same lock.
Your tickets are inside the "house" (mydisneyexperience) so, no matter which key you use (first MB or second) your tickets will still be inside the house

formerly they were stored on the "key" (Key To The World) it's no longer the case now.
So you can use any MB. You can even use your first MB to open the room door during your second stay

they're merely keys, and act as keys, just as if you had 2 keys for your front door, you can use either of them to the same effect.

no. it's Magic Bands only now.

(you might be able to request one for exceptionnal circumstances, but I'd go with the "no" answer.)
