Magic Bands Shipping Address

ok so maybe a bit late in the day for this, but my magic bands are about to be shipped. My address is my home and address and it says "if outside of usa you can pick up magic bands from dis hotel reception". My reservation is all linked but i have entered my uk home address. Is that ok? Will they auto pick up that i'm outside of usa so will send it to resort :confused3

I think i'm getting to the last minute panick time, about stuff I sorted and understood ages ago :rotfl:
 
I think i've just answered by own question, just seen this.

"All your MagicBands are customized!
Your MagicBands are shipping soon to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel"

I think i need to go and lie down and stop worrying :rolleyes1

Another one to say don't panic we did the same and they were waiting for us at the resort.
 

Disney actually has us at a US address (that's our billing address, though we live outside the US) so i entered the resort address as the magic band shipping address.

But if your disney account has your address as outside of the US, then the bands are automatically shipped to the resort.

The package voucher envelopes are a different story. You can't alter the shipping address yourself.
If you book through Disney US and your Disney account has a US address but you live outside the US, you have to call Disney and have them manually make the change of address for the package voucher envelope.

The trouble with entering the resort address as the shipping address is that I have read of people having issues where MagicBands are lost or delayed in the US mail system. For some reason, Disney does not seem to recognise that the address entered is a resort address and therefore ships it through regular channels. Every time I have read that somebody from the UK has entered the resort address for MagicBands to be shipped to, they have had a problem with the bands not being there when they arrived. Hope this does't happen to you Beth.

We did it last year during the pop century test in august and it worked fine
Here's hoping it works ok for DD's trip in november.

if not, i guess they'll be given grey generic magic bands. Also, not a disaster.
Maybe i can find their old bands for them to take with them just in case. I'm sure i put them somewhere safe (we each got two sets last year, as we checked in twice - before and after the cruise)
 
You can change just the MB shipping address online - could you log in and switch that to the address she lives at outside the U.S.? That way they would go with the internal shipment.

The reason being is they shipping around 4 weeks in advance for US addresses and a lot of the resorts haven't got enough storage now as the MB boxes take up a lot of space so those arriving via the regular mail are not in the correct date batch and get put somewhere else and probably moved or lost.

MDE was a bit wonky on the address change. At first it said it was the shipping address only and wouldn't affect the account address.
But then when it asked for a phone number it said it would be the phone number on the account.
So now that i think about it, i'm going to call disney and check on the address with the CM.
The question is should i call the IT support number or the regular number.
Some of the CMs at the regular number are very bright and sweet, but recently i've had a hit or miss experience.
Mostly the traditional magical CMs, but a few who really didn't know what they were doing and i was sorry i hadn't just hung up when they first answered and it was obvious they weren't on the ball.

oh wow....i just realized something....when i called the other day to make the final payment on her package, i didn't know the phone number.
That's what happened.
The phone number that we put in for the shipping address must have replaced her phone number.
Geez. What a mess.
Now i have to call. argh.
(though payment went through as i was trying to give them money. It took me a while, but i managed to convince the CM to take the money even though i didn't know the phone number ;) )

one in the disney travel company and the other in disney IT....
both really nice and very much on the ball...

the travel company cm took care of a few things really quickly and easily and then switched me over to IT to check on the magic bands shipping address.
He too was excellent. Very nice and is sending an extra notice in hopes of actually getting the bands to them at the resort. So here's hoping!!
otherwise they'll get the gray ones, which won't be the end of the world either :)

as i've noted, disney has us listed at a US address (a post office box). However, we don't live there, so we didn't want the magic bands sent there.

i had put the resort address in the MDE as the MB shipping address, but just to be sure, i called disney.
The CM transferred me to the disney IT people.
The guy there, put in a special notice to ensure that the bands would be shipped to the resort.
I wasn't sure if it would work, but DD just got both an email and a notice in MDE that her magic bands are waiting for her at the resort.

So keep your fingers crossed. It sounds like the bands may actually be there when she arrives (in two days)!!! :)

I have no doubt that they will, however you should know that the email and MDE notifications are automatic, based on the fact that the bands were not shipped to her home address. I know that because I got the same email and MDE notification and though that, since we were already at WDW we would just pop over to the resort and ask if we could pick up the bands early. The guy I spoke ot at the front desk told me that the bands don't arrive until the early hours of the morning that you are checking in. Like I say, I am sure that they will be there waiting but don't count on the fact that your DD has an email and a notification as a guarantee that they are there.

yes, that's why i said keep your fingers crossed.
i know these things are automatic. But at least i know the system was aware they should be shipped to the resort.
Since they did screw up with her envelope.
Her package envelope with all the vouchers was sent to the US address, instead of to the resort (though the regular CM promised me they would be sent to the resort).
So i was wondering if the MB would work out or not.

Time will tell. But so far it's looking better than the envelope.
 
Ok, quick & possibly silly question, sorry to hi-jack.

Do the Magic Bands still arrive in a nice box if they ship to the resort (the one you see in all the Magic Band pictures).

Yes, we (i'm the OP) had them in the nice box with mrs. incredible on the front. At resort ready and waiting for us, personalised. :goodvibes

update:

they checked in on monday and their magic bands were there and waiting for them!!

woo hoo!!

(so were all the other packages that we had shipped to the resort!)
