Magic Bands Questions

I'm sure this has been answered already, but I can't seem to find it. How do I order characters on my Magic Bands on the Disney website? I booked my package, and the customized Magic Bands option comes up in MDE, but just to select the basic colors and personalize with a name. The only place I can find the character magic bands on Disney's website is in the Disney store. Would I just order them from there and then link them to my account once I receive them? And once I do, will that cancel the basic color magic bands? (I don't want to receive 2 sets)

Also, do we get any type of discount if we order the character bands instead of the standard complimentary bands? Since we are just upgrading, and not ordering both sets, would we just pay the difference?

Yes, buy them and then link them. Discount? Unlikely. The original bands stay active and, once assigned, you can use them interchangeably.

The character MBs don't come with a resort reservation, just the standard colors do. You can purchase the special MBs separately, and link them to your account.

There's probably a shorter URL than that but that's what I got when I searched. You would have to pay full price for the decorated bands if you want those. After you receive the bands, you just go into your MDE acct and link them (there are instructions that come with the bands but I think you could search on the internet and find instructions also). You can then "decline" your free ones if you choose.

I ordered a decorated band for my 4.5 yr old and myself but I decided not to decline the free ones just in case we happen to lose ours...then we have a replacement available immediately instead of having to go to guest relations and get a boring grey one.

That's a good idea, I didn't think of that! We will probably just get both then, if we are paying full price for the character bands. Thanks!

The only place I can find the character magic bands on Disney's website is in the Disney store.

If you are in the US and have a smartphone, check out the Shop Disney Parks mobile app. It has more MagicBands available than DisneyStore.com does.

Due to the "limited supply" nature of the specialty bands.

They have a (virtually) unlimited supply of the basic color bands.
