Magic bands question

Hey all, haven't been to Disney in 8 years and we're currently planning a trip for February of 2019, staying on site, so we're still in the early stages. Having just discovered the Magic Bands I've seen there's some awesome ones out there that we can buy but I also know that when you book with Disney they send you magic bands that are personalized. My question is, how would it work if I purchased a limited edition magic band but the rest of my family were fine with the regular ones that Disney provides? Am I going to mess up our tickets, reservations, hotel etc up? Is this something I should order when ordering my tickets or does that not matter (my guess is mine just won't be personalized)?

1. Any individual guest can have as many (or as few) different MBs as (s)he likes.
Each and every MB linked to that person will work interchangeably.
2. Nope.
3. You can. Or you can wait to buy one (or more) after you are at WDW.
4. Correct.

Gotcha, figured it would be simple.

Also, we won 4 one day park hopper tickets would we be able to put all 4 tickets on to 1 band?

No tickets are ever "put onto" any MagicBand.
You put ticket numbers into your MyDisneyExperience account and your MagicBands access that account.
You can choose to assign any new individual tickets to any person's MDX account.

If your not going until 2019 remember Magic Bands make great stocking stuffers. When I declined all 8 of the plain ones they actually sent me an email asking me if I was sure I did not want them. They can be fun my teen got me the Grumpy Magic Band for my birthday.

If I may tag onto this conversation ... I just placed an order from disneystore.com for new MB2 for my family of 4. I would like to be able to hit the parks as fast as possible when we arrive - we are staying Swan/Dolphin, so no complimentary bands. I was thinking about trying to get there our first day for EMM in Fantasyland, and I read online that the window is tight for checking in.
Will I be able to link them myself to MDE when they arrive in the mail? I have several old-style MBs listed there from when we were passholders in 2014/15, and I see there is a button in MDE to link missing MBs and cards. I'll bring back-up old-style ones just in case. Wanted to see how you handle linking your Grumpy band. Thank you!

I ordered specialty magic bands and linked them at home. It is really easy to assign them to a person in MDE

Can one of my magic bands be deactivated from my account and added to my friends account? I have quite a few extra bands and she won't be getting a complimentary one, since she's staying offsite.

It is also possible to purchase "skins" that attach to your regular Magic Bands. Those skins can be a design created by the skin manufacturer, or something custom that you make yourself. MagicYourBand is one of those companies, and is a sponsor here on the DIS. I have used their products several times now, and they look, and work wonderfully.

It can be "deactivated" which means it is still connected to your account, but simply doesn't work. Magic Bands can never be reassigned to another guest though.

You can easily link your new bands and they do pile up my daughter has 6 or 7 on her account.
