Magic Bands on Disney Bus system?

I am wondering if the Disney bus system (that runs from resorts to the parks and back again) will begin requiring Magic Band / identification? I always stay off-site, but like to ride the bus from the parks to various resorts such as Wilderness Lodge, to ooh and ahh as well as shop. Even though the bus system was designed for on-site guests, I have never been asked for ID or anything. Anyone know if this will change?:confused3

You are welcome to use all the transportation. They don't require onsite stay to use it, it's to be used for any reason, like you said shopping or eating or convincing yourself to stay onsite!

No one can know if it will change unless they can see the future or are part of the management team that would make that decision but I don't think it will happen.

Disney wants offsite guests to shop and dine at the resorts. I can't see them blocking people from doing so.

It would require a change in the current policy that anyone can use the Disney transportation system.

No, it won't. Anyone can use it whether they are staying at the resort or not. Don't see that changing.

They want guests like you to visit their resorts and spend money there.

There was a short time long ago (maybe mid to late 1980's) where they only wanted resort guests using the resort monorail and resort bus system and would sometimes ask you to show your room key. Those days are long gone, though, and unlikely to come back.

In '77 (staying at Fort Wilderness) we were given a transportation card that we had to show to get on the resort monorail. Of course this when it was only the MK, Poly, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness and there wasn't really much reason to travel around.
