Magic Bands not working?

add me to the "heck no way would I be paying cash" group. First of all, who even carries cash? I haven't in over 10 years. I use my debit card for .99 coffee every day. but that's besides the point. I ALREADY PAID for the meal by way of purchasing the dining plan, so why would they think it's ok to ask me to pay AGAIN? That makes no sense whatsoever. :confused3

This. I'm a little slack jawed that you'd be asked to pay for something you already paid for. If this is a problem on their end, it needs to be fixed on their end. Period.

I can't remember when it was :confused3 last fall maybe or this Jan whenever it happened to me with the DP at one restaurant I was asked to pay OOP nope not going to happen " I have no cash or cc with me sorry you'll have to get a manager"

They did and miraculously they got it fixed No way am I, as other posters said, pulling out a wallet and then wasting my time getting a refund

Me, either. You figure out a way to make it work, because you won't be getting any more money from me.

My friend's MBs did not work the 1st 2 days of their trip. They would be told they were fixed and then when someone went to scan them they would not be working again. They had the dining plan and went to a CS their first day and were told that as the bands didn't work they would have to pay cash and get reimbursed later. She had left her husband getting something else taken care of and he had her stuff, so her 2 hungry little kids didn't get to eat right then. They also were required to pay cash/credit card at a TS restaurant during the time their MBs weren't working even though they had the dining plan.

I can't imagine what a mess it would be with a system wide outage. I have seen lots of people post on here that with the MBs, they were not even going to bring their cash or credit cards into the park at all (to which I always respond with my friend's story and why that is not a good idea).

You don't tip? I'm sure the server will go out of their way to assist you :confused3

I'm sure they would have charged the tip to the room account. You don't need a separate method of payment if you've set up room charging.

This sounds like a system problem, not the method of accessing the system. Therefore a room key wouldn't help. Would just have the same problem.

Yeah, i'm still not bringing cash or cc with me, thats what these stupid FANTABULOUS magic bands are supposed to replace. They can demand i pay all they want but what can they do if i dont have it on me? And even if I DID have it on me, i still wouldnt pay. what are they gonna do after we already ate our meal? Send us to disney jail, lol. They need to get their act together

I take cash for my tips and will this trip as well. The tip won't cover our bill and I'm not giving the server's hard earned money to the restaurant. They would just have to sort it out. Not many places have a system like Disney where they get paid months in advance for the meals the guests are going to eat. I paid months ago. They will fix it. They have no option.

I quite like the magic band concept. It's a KTTW on your arm. The issue is the technology.

I only had this happen to me once a few years ago. We arrived at OKW late at night and picked up our on-line check-in packet. The next morning we went to Animal Kingdom and had lunch at Yak and Yeti marketplace. They swiped our KTW cards and told us that it had no dining plan credits loaded on it. We spoke to the manager and there was nothing he could do on his end. We had to pay for lunch and then go to the OKW front desk to have it corrected/refunded. It was such a waste of time.

This past November, my magicband only worked for park admission and fastpass plus. I couldn't get into the room or use it for the dining plan. I never had this corrected because the rest of my party had magic bands the worked for everything, so I didn't want to waste my time fixing mine.

We have the QS plan for our upcoming trip in 6 weeks. Hopefully everything works!

Had one of ours not work for park entry. After waiting in a VERY long line (MK on a Saturday) we were issued a regular ticket as a stop gap until we got back to the hotel. They were able to link it to Fp+ in the interim. But frustrating to deal with when issue was theirs, not ours

If I already paid for the dining plan, I wouldn't be paying out of pocket for the meal. No Way. They would have to figure out a different way to accept my dining plan credit. I am usually really flexible, but when it comes to wasting possible hundreds of dollars because of a "system being down"...just no.

Same here...no way in heck would I pay for something I already paid for!

You can add the tip with your Magic Band...I did it all week during Spring Break.
