Can anyone explain how this would work? I have 4 non expiring park hopper + waterparks fun and more tickets. They each have 5 days of park hopping and 6 waterpark days on them. Since we typically only do the water park once per trip it will take us 6 trips to use the waterpark part of the ticket. Would we have to keep track of the magic bands if we transfer them to the magic band, or would we lose them once the 5 park hopping days are done? Thank you! :cool1:

Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBands. The MYW tickets are linked to your MDX profile and the MagicBands read the data from there.

I have non-expiring tickets not yet used at the parks that I bought from Uncover Tourist - do I need to check in at Guest Services to have them linked to our bands the first time or can I do this through MDE?

You should be able to link them using MDE yourself.

We linked our no expiration tickets from Undercover Tourist to our magic bands for our recent trip. On MDE go to link tickets - you'll enter the bar code on the back of each ticket.

Before I did this, I called and asked what happens how the no expiration works with magic bands since we don't go every year. The cast member said to keep the paper tickets until all days are used. That way you can link to another magic band if needed (battery for MB lasts 2 years or so). They'll probably still be in the system, but keeping the paper ticket assures you'll be able to link again if needed.

FYI - As reported all info is in Disney's computers, not on the bands. The battery in the band is used for features not even used yet, it powers a WiFi signal for long distance applications and location features. The readers do not require a battery.

I agree with keeping the original tickets. Never hurts.

But if everything works as expected, they will never be needed again. Even if (when) you get additional MagicBands, those bands are linked to your MDE account. And it's your MDE account which stores the admission information.

Even now you could have 2 or 5 or 10 active MagicBands linked to your own user profile. Any of those bands could be used to open your hotel room door, enter a theme park or redeem FP+ selections.

I also have 10 day non expiring tickets with water park. I have not linked them because we bought AP's on our last trip. But, what if we decided we wanted to go to a waterpark for a day on our next trip? Would we have to link the non expiring tix to the MB to do that? Or could we just go to the water park with paper tix? If we were to link them how do we know if when entering the park days are taken from them instead of using our AP?

If the MYW ticket is an RFID card, you can just use that at the entrance. If it's paper (tyvek), you would need to exchange it for an RFID card.

Yes, it is tyvek. So, I can exchange it and use it at the water park without linking it?

I too was wondering about multiple tickets loaded into MDE. As in, if you have just the water park credits left on your Non-expiring tickets and you get a new AP or other ticket to allow you to get in the major parks, would you then be able to use both (the AP for major parks and the non expiring water park credits for a trip to Blizzard Beach or golf or whatever?)

I cannot speak from any first-hand knowledge of the software but it seems like a no-brainer that any expiring ticket media (AP or expiring MYW) would be used BEFORE non-expiring media.

On a related note, I'm disappointed that the MDE website does not display days remaining on a park ticket. I understand that Disney intentionally made it difficult to access that information in the past to curtail resales of partially-used tickets. But if they're expecting us to go electronic and rely on the MDE website from this point forward, they really should give us easy access to data on our park tickets. They should be able to give us simple accounting on the number of entitlements loaded to each linked ticket, a list of when each was used and how many remain.

Just show me that my non-expiring MYW started with 10 visits, was used on 12/10/13 and 12/11/13, and has 8 visits left.

Without that information, people with non-expiring tickets may be trying to fight Disney years after-the-fact if some system glitch used a day on a non-expiring park ticket rather than an AP/PAP which happened to be active at the time.

If I were to link NE tickets to MDE, i should be able to find out how many park days I have left, simply by trying to book FP+. if it lets me do 3 days' worth, then I should have 3 days left. Likewise, if I only have waterpark days left, I shouldnt be able to book any FP+'s, correct?

Has anyone tried booking FP+ with NE tickets that dont have any park days left?

Thanks for that heads up! We definitely take a while to use up our tickets, and usually have water park days left to use up even further out.

I completely agree! Especially as we have currently APs for this year, left over water park days on non-expiring tickets, and new non-expiring tickets that we bought before the last price increase.

I would love to know how they will know to use the water park days that are left on the already partially used tickets first. Maybe that's just automatic. I used to try to keep track by writing it down. Maybe I'll have to hit the concierge desk prior to leaving to get a printout of what's left on each "card". Or is it only Guest Services that can do that. Much easier for all if they just let me see it on MDE.

Well, in that particular scenario it really doesn't matter which are used first. Non-expiring days are...non-expiring. If you have 14 waterpark visits remaining, spread over 2 "tickets", it shouldn't matter which are used first.

In fact, the idea of "tickets" is quickly becoming antiquated. You really aren't buying a paper (or plastic) identifier anymore. You're simply buying a bundle of park visits which are doled-out at your leisure.

Where it would matter is when expiring admission comes into play. I just bought 10-day, non-expiring passes and linked them to my MDE account. A big reason for that purchase was the 10 waterpark visits, which could take 10 years to use. But even before the 10 theme park days are used it, it's conceivable that I could buy an Annual Pass. If an active AP is in force, obviously I'd want my theme park visits taken from that rather than using my my non-expiring credits.
