Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

My magicbands do not show as active, just shipping soon, but it has been five days and I realize that everyone else's bands seemed to go active within two days.

Actually on the website the status is shipping soon and there is a confirmation number and I can see the colors and everyone's name on the correct color of band.

On the MDE app on my IPad, it just shows 0 under "My Magic Bands" and 4 under "New Magic Bands" but there is no confirmation number or names or colors.

Thank you...I just called and this time the tech person took my email address and confirmed that I am part of the Beta testing for August. Then he said, "wait...just a minute" and put me on hold for ten minutes.

When he returned he said that Canadians are not eligible to be part of the test and I would not be receiving magicbands upon checkin. Then he said that because I was able to make fastpass+ selections, I would be given three anytime fastpasses per day to use wherever regular fastpass is located for compensation.

There are four of us going and we have 10 day tickets. Are they really going to give me 120 fastpasses upon arrival? :rotfl2:

Well, assuming this is true (and I actually doubt it myself...), I bet that it's three anytime FPs total...but you'll still have the regular FP.

Will they really know if someone is double dipping by using their FastPass+ selections but also using the KTTW card to get regular FastPass?

We don't really know if the systems are connected in that regard, and if they are, if they are just ignoring it right now, but the July tests have allowed double dipping.

Hmmm, so what is the worst that can happen in August, the regular FastPass machines just not dispensing FastPasses for FastPass+ testers?

That can't be right about the Canadian thing because the IT tech I talked to knew I was Canadian because when I gave her my reservation number I had to confirm my address and phone number and e-mail and she told me because I was from Canada my MB were shipped to the resort and the only reason I couldn't my husbands or children bands on my app she told where to go on the app to see the kids, but said my hubbies would show up on his account and she confirmed I had 4 MB attached to my reservation and the Bands are all there.

Have you actually picked up the bands, though?

Worst case would be no regular fastpass, and limited availability for FP+ to book and switch if you need to a couple of days before or the day of.

No, but You can't active the bands until they have been manufactured and the computer chips have been put in. It shows as activated and each band also has its own serial number on it.

Isn;t there a radio transmitter in the bands as well, the transmitter doesn't start working until you attach a battery to it.
My point being is the Bands wouldn't be active if they didn't exist.

I was told they just figured out (maybe in the ten minute time frame I was put on hold??? :confused3) that the test was for people in the United States only. So there would be nobody picking up magicbands from any resort in August.

OK. But my point was you're not going to know whether what the CM told you on the phone is correct or not until you get to the resort and have the bands in your hands. Or not. Just because you think that because your bands are showing as "active" online that means that they'll be waiting for you at your resort for sure doesn't meant that's actually what's going to happen. It's like Bigfoot...not going to believe it until I see it.

Well, here's the best part...if they already assigned an RFID tag number from a MagicBand to the profile, and now they've decided no, they are rescinding the magicbands for some, they need to either remove that assignment from the user. Otherwise, if they go to give it to someone else, you could conceivably have all sorts of problems - like charges to the wrong person, etc. I'm not sure I've got the confidence in IT right now to believe that the system would detect those conflicts...

The resorts have to handle MB pickup anyways - it would be a good test of that. I think the only real problem is that MDX hasn't been made fully available to non-US residents yet.

So why are they not allowing Canadians to be part of the test? If it's an application issue, one would think they should work on getting that ironed out. It's not like Disney doesn't see a humongous amount of foreign visitors, and making sure this works properly for them I would think would be important.

there is an RFID tag number attached to the MBs showing up on my MDE app that number is attached to my reservation and my credit card number so this is bigger than big foot.

This is what I am scared of. But so far the RFID tag number still shows up on my app so hopefully everything is okay. I am going to be nervous until we get to Disney

I don't think Disney ITs have the authority, from what I have read on this thread people have called to try and make changes to their bands and the ITs couldn't help them. I would think this type of authority would have to come from the person in charge of the IT department.

Sorry if this was already answered but I wanted to print a list and can't figure out if it is possible to do that.
Thanks.
