Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

Not neccessarily. I get the "Are you ready for a new kind of magic?" pop up EVERY time I log in. It tells me to link my tickets, but I already have and they show up under my reservations/tickets. But, I can't customize bands or do FP+.

:thumbsup2 It's actually quite an annoyance. Everything is done and ready, but it keeps telling me to do it...

The other pop-up does the same thing. I've customized and received the bands, and made my FP+ reservations, but still get the pop-up every time telling me to go do it.

Got our Magic Bands in the mail yesterday!! FYI, once we customized them and indicated the "Done" they locked the next day, and shipped the day after that. I didn't get an email that they shipped until the day they were delivered.

Also, my trip isn't until 8/21, and haven't received am email about FP+, but the person i called said i will be participating if i can customize/are sent bands.

As for the bands, they're a little uncomfortable - does anyone else who received them think the shape is a little off? The straight, fixed part with the mickey ear is an odd size and doesn't fit well on my wrist. I needs to be more pliable. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

I had the same thought about the size/shape. I'm hoping once I use it for a day or two it will be better.

I imagine they need that part of the band to be stiff, since it houses the electronics. If they make it to bendable right there, the circuitry could break. It's basically reinforced to be more durable.

If it's really uncomfortable, you could definitely carry the band in your pocket, hip pack, bag, etc, and take it out when you need it.

I said this exact thing when we got ours

It won't be. We've been using ours and both ODD and I have been wearing them each day for a week and they are no better than the first day.

So I just got off the phone with tech support because I had a question about picking up bands at my resort since I'm Canadian.

I was told repeatedly that if you do not receive an email you are not part of the test. I said there are lots of people from the States who have already received magicbands who have not yet received an email about the test. He just kept repeating to me that if you did not receive an email, you are not part of the test and that receiving the magicbands were just a bonus for those guests, but they are not part of the test unless they receive a special email.

The conversation went on and on....he just kept repeating to me just because you are part of the test and are making fastpass selections, does not mean you are part of the test.

So, I don't even know what this means anymore. :confused3

Oh, and he said absolutely no double dipping, but I was just too exhausted to say I was told something differently last week, so that was the end of my conversation.

Not being part of the test might not mean you don't get to use FP+. It might just mean they won't be including any of your experiences in their test data.

I still think it's nutty that they couldn't find a way to only activate that for people they really wanted in the test. But I'm not surprised any.

I bet your magic bands will be waiting for you at your resort, and I'd bet they FP+ works as well. But there's sure no way to know for sure.

LOL, I just got off the phone with tech support also because my tickets weren't showing up as linked. I was told that because I received magic bands and was able to make FP selections, I was part of the test group. I was also told that I'd be issued a KTTW in addition to the bands and could receive additional FPs using that. Not worried...I figure it will work out one way or another and the vacation will be fun!

The fact that you didn't get an e-mail may be because of timing. I haven't received an e-mail saying I was a tester either but I've received the Magic Bands in the mail and I've made FP+ selections.

When I called the number listed in the e-mail saying my Magic Bands have shipped (the only e-mail I've received) I was told that I WAS showing as being part of the test. When I brought up that I hadn't received an e-mail I was told that if you are able to make FP+ selections you are part of the test. She also said there is a good chance I will be getting an e-mail when my trip draws closer (I am still 3 1/2 weeks out). If I hadn't logged on to MDE to review ADR's, I never would have known to customize our Magic Bands. I asked about this also and was told that we all would have received gray ones.

Many PP's have pointed out that the e-mail comes about 17 days prior to arrival so you may still get one.

Regarding DD FP+ and FP- I was also told that it wouldn't be allowed. However, I was told that if you prefer not to use FP+ on a particular day you can just cancel all of your selections for that day and FP- will work.

I'm sure the guests that received the "bonus" MagicBands expect that they'll actually work when they arrive, whether they are officially part of the testing or not. :)

I know I do.

Maybe. But he was pretty adamant that the all important email was the golden ticket that trumped receiving a magicband.

I also know that if/when I call back again, I will undoubtedly receive different info.

I'd be interested in knowing how the APs will be handled, if you will have a MagicBand AND a KTTW card as well...

1) Will the AP be properly linked to the MB for admission?
2) Will it be linked on the KTTW card as well, for admission and FP use? Previously, AP entitlements were excluded from KTTW cards (for policy more than tech limits)
3) Can both the original AP card/ticket AND the KTTW card get regular FPs, and if so, are they linked such that the standard exclusion time applies, or can you essentially "triple dip"?

Go to your MDE app and the menu on the side has a Magic Band and cards click on that and you should see in your Magic bands it will say you have 1 magic band assigned to you. If you have order mb for kids there is manage friends mb as well. Click on your MB and the your MB will show up click on that and it should show that your magic band is active.

Plus the IT I,talked to told me we where part of the test. I only received an e- mail saying my MBs where being shipped to my resort.

I know I do.

Especially if they are showing as "Active" on the web site.

If it didn't work, that is a pretty major glitch on Disney's part to prompt people to customize their bands and make FP+ selections on the website and turn around and tell them they won't work.

One thing I did find is interesting is the prompt I get in MDE doesn't read like I'm participating in a test. It just prompts me to customize the bands and make the FP+ selections. To a casual WDW traveler who rarely goes (or is going for the first time) they would just think this is how it is.

I think part of the problem is that us Dis ers know more about what's going on then some of the tech people. :rotfl:

I tried to explain to him that it was probably too soon for me to receive an email, but he just kept cutting me off. He just did not want to hear what I had to say.

I just hate at the end of the phone call when all the sweetness comes back into their voice and they say, "Is there any other questions I can help you with today Ma'am?"

By the time I got off the phone, I realized he didn't even answer my original question!

I agree. If I wasn't reading this board, there would be no indication of a test at all. That's why I'm almost certain anyone who has their bands delivered is going to participate. In an earlier post, I said it would be a pretty huge rug to pull out from under an arriving guest to tell them "sorry, it was all a mistake and the bands won't work."

My magicbands do not show as active, just shipping soon, but it has been five days and I realize that everyone else's bands seemed to go active within two days.
