Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

It also indicates that nearly everyone staying at the four resorts are eligible. Could be a big test.

Yes expanding even more..

Again other rumor was going live by FW.
But again is that where its everyone or just Disney resorts. IMHO some type of mass rollout is next very soon after this BIG test.

I don't know if it is a rumor, or just supposition on our part. F&W could be a big win for a convenient small payment system...which is where some of the "guest spending increase" is supposedly coming from. And it is a somewhat slower time that the beginning of August or the holidays - a good time to get the kinks worked out but with a wide audience.

We're exactly 17 days out today, and the letter and the bands came at the same time (separate packages, though). So maybe the "17-day Rule" is spot-on.

Our MBs are due today too. But don't expect the magic letter until Friday at the earliest...we are 23 days out...

ETA...we won't be doing online checkin

Second ETA: UPS has "issues" with our address...anyway MBs are due tomorrow now...and wondering about the "letter" Will it go to our PO box or our house? If our house then we won't get it until a week from today because of UPS's "issues".

True but i read somewhere on some tread that again the famous anonymous lol CM said that was their plan.. But again who knows.. You get 100 different stories..

I never received an email telling me I was eligible to be part of the test, I went online and was able to request my bands pick my fast pass times. A few days later Fex Ex dropped off a letter, it was from Disney saying I had been chosen to participate. Kind of seems like a waste of money when all they had to do was email me.

I received the bands today and immediately put mine on. I had to make it tight to feel comfortable on my wrist or else I would be playing with it the whole time I had it on, I wore it an hour and my wrist started sweating while wearing it in the air conditioned house, is that just me being to sensitive to wearing it. The whole time I kept thinking, how is my son who has issues with the way some things feel and fit going to wear this. I don't know if anyone has answered that question, but has Disney thought of this and what is the solution?

Good idea. I just put mine one, and I'm going to wear it for a little while to test how it feels.

I'm not sure, but I thought I read that one person put her kids' bands on the strap of her bag rather than have them wear it. That way, it's always available to scan and won't get lost.

I can't wait for the thick tan line that band will cause. :rolleyes2 Looks like I won't be wearing a watch during this trip, as I don't really want something on both wrists.

I'm excited about them, but I'm still undecided on my final opinion.

I have a question for all August testers.....

If you received an official email to test or if you simply went on the website to customize and order your bands, did you do online check in or not??

I'm curious to see if doing online checkin or not makes a difference in terms of being eligible for the test.

I checked in on-line and when I went to MDE app on my I-pad I had 4 magic bands to customize and a couple of days later I got an e-mail saying my magic bands will be shipped to my resort because I live outside of the US. Now MDE app shows I have active magic bands.

LOL I did not even think about the tan line! That idea of strapping it to a bag sounds awesome. I might just do that! :) We also tried ours on and I have a really boney wrist so it was uncomfortable. My DS did say it felt sticky (sweaty) after a little while.

Well I have to peel the gray part off my band. My band is just to big I have small wrist. I'm sure glad they have this feature.

I've wondered if getting the magic bands and doing Fastpass+ meant you had to do online check in. So are you saying that is not required? That I can get my bands and schedule fastpass+ attractions without doing online checkin???

Now go fight some crime!

I received the email selecting us to test in August (staying at Pop). I had a question--we have APs, how has this worked with the previous testing? You link the AP to your MB, get the KTTW card, and use the AP to pull regular FPs?

I'm aware "double-dipping" might not be allowed in August as it had been in the previous tests, but I'm just trying to figure this all out.

Just received the bands for myself and my son. We're arriving at the Contemporary in 24 days. No email or snail mail as of yet. I would hope that I'm part of the test and they didn't just send me the bands for the heck of it! I'm pretty interested to se what the technology is all about.

Online check in is, unless I'm missing something, only allowed 10 days prior to visit. So at least I haven't done it yet.

So MB and FP+ do not require it at this time.
