Magic Bands if staying off site

Although we are staying on site and have set up all of my FP + reservations, we have friends that are staying off site and are interested in magic bands. Has Disney announced when off site guests can get magic bands? If so, how will off site guests go about getting magic bands or is the throw away room reservation the only way to do it still? Thanks for any information.

No timetable announced--they will eventually be available for purchase by offsite guests for a rumored $15 or so.

Thanks Mesaboy2. I guess as a follow up, is there a way for people without magic bands to pre-book fast pass + before they arrive at the park on MDE? Or does MDE only link up to magic bands? As much as I lurk around on this website you would think I would understand all of this, but I am still confused.

MDE will also link with other ticket media besides MBs. The only way to prebook FP+ at this time is to be staying onsite...although there is speculation that it could be changing soon. Stay tuned.

I thought they had started it for selected off-site people already? I thought I saw a few threads that they could start booking on Feb 7? Or was that a glitch that has since gone away?

I said speculation because no one has actually done it yet. Hopefully, they will be able to, but it hasn't happened yet.

I just wanted to share (as far as the possibiltiy of offsite being able to prebook) my MDE had a fp+ lock on it with no dates listed... we are offsite but have many ADR's booked (end of may) did NOT have tickets linked...

today I linked our UCT tickets and as soon as I was done, it came up and said i could prebook my fp+ selections starting March 27, which is exactly 60 days from our first ADR... obviously won't know until then if this will actually work, but looks favorable that offsite will be able to prebook :))

Swan and Dolphin has fastpass plus. Technically, they are an offsite resort even though it doesn't seem like they are one. To my knowledge that all there has been so far.

I would strongly suggest your offsite guests to go onsite instead. If they can change then I would do it.

For offsite guests you get to do fastpass at kiosks in the park on the day you arrive in the park. It is very unlikely they will be able to match your times. Also, many of the so called better times for fastpass plus will be gone before they do it in the park.
You may be able to change your times to match their times better than the other way around. Just be prepared your return times will be poor.

Now, if you are not touring with one another it won't matter as much and they can just do their own thing. Meet up for meals and other rides and attractions that you don't use fastpass plus for.

Right now, offsite guests are getting shafted by the new fastpass plus. We came back from an early December 2013 trip being offsite guests and the trip was the worse one we ever had. We've been to Disney World over 40 times.

The fastpass plus is still evolving and no one seems to have real time frames as to when offsite guests will get a better deal with this program. It could even go down that the fastpass plus for offsite guests may remain as it is right now.

We are on hiatus as of now with Disney World and unless the product makes a significant turn around we are probably done with Disney World; unless, we do stay onsite which is unlikely for us.

OMG I am sad :sad2: to read thses kind of considerations ans I'll be off site in my next trip :( When someone with 40 years od "WDW-trips" :hourglass writes something like that I think it's better to listen.
I'll write what I think of the FP+ as soon as I had the experience for the good or the bad. Luckly for me I know we'll be doing the parks in a very relaxed mode as we'll be there with a 11 m.o baby boy!

I was at Disney back in October had magic bands, going back in March staying offsite is there a way to link my ticket to my magic band?

Swan and Dolphin has fastpass plus.

This is NOT the case. I called the Swan and I was told I would have to wait to book FP+ at the park, on the day I enter the park. Other threads on this site, seem to confirm that.

I'm staying at the Swan starting 2/17. My MDE showed a date April 14th 2014 as for when I can make FP+ reservations, that was until I booked a room at the All-Starts for the 17th and now I can make FP+ reservations.

Personally I think off site guests will have the ability to prebook FP+ sooner rather than later.

That's great news!!! Waiting for my date to book to change to 60 days out. Right now it's only 5 days before.
