Sounds like Legacy FP is gone. Is it still necessary to be at park opening, since we can schedule 3 fast passes on our magic bands from home? Are people getting there early now just to get more done before the lunch crowd hits?

1. You don't have to be there at rope drop if you're staying onsite. But if you're staying offsite, you might want to get there at rope drop, since you can schedule your 3 FPs ONLY after you've entered the park, at one of the kiosks.
2. Yes, same as always, although some onsite guests are now coming in later since they have their FPs already.

Couple of things you might want to think about.

You can't get fastpasses for Soarin' and Test Track on the same day. (There are others but these are the big ones.) You also can't get passes for Rock'n Roller Coaster and Toy Story Mania on the same day. If you want to get both of these big rides in on the same day without waiting in line, it might help to show up at rope drop and knock off the one you didn't get the fastpass for.
