Magic Bands & Fastpass + (what to expect, tips and changes)

Hi, I thought I'd come on here with this as I'm now HOOKED on Dis unplugged and this has been brought up many times and so many threads on this.

We're coming in May (staying on site) and I just would like to know what to expect. From the outside looking in the Magic Bands look great using it as your room key, tickets, credit card and fastpass+.

but I keep hearing so many bad things about this, even as far as ruining peoples holiday and stating that there not going back......

I get that you cant book your fastpass+ for different parks and you can only use it once for 3 or 4 attractions per day. I'm seeing a lot of people are saying this is having an effect on queuing systems. (which is understandable)

are these the main problems, not being able to park hop with fastpass+ & not being able to choose more rides?

so what can I expect?

what do Disney need to change?

and has anyone found any tips or tricks with there magic bands? (not including decorating or using it on Disney infinity)

We're at Art of Animation right now and had our 1 park day yesterday (MK).

We didn't mind the Magic Bands. The kids were thrilled to have their own colour bands, and learned quickly how to use them. The only issues that we had were that after check in we had to try each of the bands on the room door more than once, to make sure that they turned the light green and opened the room door. Took an extra 2 minutes. After that, no problems.

Since we have young kids (4yrs & 7yrs), we appreciated not having to run around the park to collect FPs, even though we've successfully collected lots of FPs that way in the past. Our kids don't expect to go on rides multiple times, so we didn't have that disappointment with the 3 FP limit. We got there at RD, and did everything we wanted to do by 3:30pm.

We didn't have any trouble changing things on the fly using the kiosks, and the line moved very quickly at the Tomorrowland kiosks, though the line looked daunting. The MDE app crashed once, in mid-afternoon, but worked later in the afternoon.

Disney do listen, apparently as off today WDW is testing FP+ without the 3 ride limitation

Not until you have redeemed your first three. Not that great as the crowds increase, by the time you use them up, there will be a very limited inventory to choose from...if this is true, have not seen it anywhere else
