Now that we have magic bands will they start mandating that guests must wear them while at resort pools?
As it is now the check for room keys at busy times.Always at SAB.

I would assume they already do. No room keys by default any more.

I know when I went to the ToWL they scan my band, like I was making a purchase (even needed my PIN #) to check that I was DVC Staying on-site.

So I don't know why they wouldn't do it with the popular pools, since they use to use room keys for it.

Oh dear god. another reason to detest Magic Bands!

I typically get a two bedroom, and then my family of 3 is joined my other families on a rotating basis. Now we have to screw around with Magic Bands?

No different than showing room key. Probably will need to just show 1 like you do your room key. I'd rather have that than have people who are not staying at resort take up all the avail chairs, or the family of 6 who grab 6 to 8 chairs first thing in the AM BUT aren't actually at pool.

Seems like people like to freak with any change. It's not a big deal to show a band.

We were at BCV last month and the CMs were checking Magic Bands at the pool, but they also had regular colored wrist straps for those without Magic Bands. Whenever my son and I left to go on the slide and I walked back to watch him exit, I had to have my band scanned. One CM said, "Oh, I saw you leave so I know you are coming back," and let me through, but then they switched shifts and the new CM had to scan my band and it didn't work . So I missed my son getting off the slide and the CM let me through, seeing that I had two towels and my son's Crocs in my hand and I was all wet from Stormalong Bay. He said he was standing in a WiFi deadzone and that he was having a hard time reading anyone's bands.

I'm not sure how MB changes the experience in any fundamental way in this case.

You USE to have to carry your room key with you to prove access to the pool, and return to your room. now you carry/wear a MB to prove access and return to your room. Show a card/scan a band are to me pretty much the same thing.

To me in this case it's better, instead of leaving my Card Key on the deck chair with my towel and shoes.

I was staying at BLT mid December. Had to use mb to enter the gate of the pool.

In December at BCV, I used MB to enter SAB. They just scanned it. Much better than having to have a room key.

Does SAB do both now? The magic band and then the colored paer ones that change collor everyday?

Really dumb question... Can the MBs be submerged in the water? :)
They are completely encased/ sealed in silicone. Which means the battery is not replaceable but they have a year shelf life.

Simple answer yes for any depth of water you might encounter at WDW with the possible exception of the dive tour at living seas.
