If my kids are wearing Magic Bands and get lost in the parks, will a cast member be able to scan their bands, find our contact info, and give us a call?

I bet they will be able to! If they can scan the magic bands to pull up your tickets I don't see why they wouldn't be able to get your name and number. That's actually pretty cool.

Not sure what info it gives. They may be able to at least get the hotel info and then pull it up from there. I wish they would have a feature that included parents name and number.

when the band is scanned, it does give the name of the band owner and which hotel they are staying at.

Someone write Disney and ask if this is possible, and if it is, they should advertise it as such! Definitely would be a perk for parents!!! :thumbsup2

I had the same thought the other day. It would be so awesome if a parent could register emergency contact information for their child's magic band. On Disney Cruise Line kids have to wear a band that when scanned has similar information on it. Since Disney swears that no info is actually stored on the band and that it just links to the Disney computer system it sounds pretty safe.

We ordered DS a stainless steel bracelet that has emergency contact info on it and since he is under 3 he won't have a magic band, but for other parents having it all connected would be a nice perk.

Actually he will have a magicband. All guests no matter age gets a band. In my planning group even the infants under 1 got a band. Not that they would wear it but they do get one.

We have bands for our 2yo and 1yo for a trip in a couple weeks.

That would be an awesome perk for them to advertise. I would spend a few dollars on the magic bandits to convince my 3yoa that he had a super cool bracelet he'd want to wear. It would be very comforting to know that it would be easy for Disney to contact me if anything happened.

I'm hoping it will. My daughter is to the age now where she just carries my number so it wouldn't be an additional band for her. My son though will just be 4 when we go back and still wears a band with my number on it. It would be nice if he only had to wear one. I think someone did say in another thread on this that they are easy to write on; so, if the information won't come up on a scan the band can still be used for the information.

My plan (I hope) is to have my 22 month old son wear the band on his belt loop or even the top of his sneakers in btwn the laces. I have to get the band and find out what works. If they scan the band they will know who the parents are very very easily.

We made fun dog tags at Walmart with our info engraved on it then laced through the shoe laces. No electronics (possible problems) needed and ANYONE could help anywhere during the trip then.

I think it is expedited if there is a bandaid like tattoo on with the cell phone no.
Dragging a kiddo to a reader at a site that has a computer, then contact resort or guest relations for a guest contact number?
If you look at the wrist ID with cell no. it will be several minutes faster.

Btw, those bands are a sweaty uncomfortable mess. Wide, thick, the jibbitz don't stay in, I had mine in my bag mostly.

I emailed to ask, and here's the response I got:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

If a child becomes separated from the rest of their party, a Cast Member
will be able to scan their Magicband®. It will link back to the My
Disney Experience® account that the resort reservation or Magicband® is
linked to and if a cell phone number is listed, would be able to be
contacted via that number.

Make sure that you have your cell phone number listed on your My Disney
Experience® account.
