I'm sorry but the longer the "magic bands" are floating around the tackier and cheaper they are looking to me. They are just ugly. How can one want to wear one of those every day? You can't possibly make them work with all your outfits.

I know I can tuck them away and undoubtedly will if the day comes where we think it is safe to test the waters again but... really? People are saying you can't have the option to perform the necessary functions using a card? I thought originally they said we would have the option of using an RFID card instead of the bands.

Maybe I misunderstood and we will be able to stay at the resort but use cards for room entry and FP+. I am not fond of the FP+ idea but I can't understand why Disney would think we'd all want carnival bracelets on our wrists all day, every day.

I just don't get the appeal of wearing cheap rubber/plastic/whatever.

Okay, I am apologizing for giving people the impression that I think people who like them are tacky. That was not my intent. I was just frustrated that I thought I would have the choice to avoid them. Some people just don't like certain things and I never liked the livestrong etc. bands at all even when they were at their most popular. I'm sorry for coming across that I think I am better than people who like the bands. That isn't what I intended. Most people at Disney look better than I do without even trying. I was pretty frustrated to hear the card option was off the table from a different thread.

Sorry....I think they are cute.
They are comfortable and I really like them. Hope to get all the colors so I can change them to go with what I wear......but to each his own. Don't wear it. Just tap it as needed.

I believe you can get a card instead of a band. If you have a RFID ticket, it should work in the parks instead of the band. I looked on the FAQ's and it doesn't specifically address it but the FAQ's say Magicband OR CARD.

They remind me of the fitness bands that are so trendy right now that people pay $100 + for. I guess tacky is in the eye of the beholder.

Do you wear Alex and Ani?

I used the MagicBands on ly last trip to WDW and it was just fine !!! It is just so easy to keep them on your wrist when you go the pool or to take with you on your day to the parks. They light not fit every outfit but nobody will make you wear them all the time and you can ask a card, thry will make it on demand. The system is a bit tricky though as you need to find the right angle with some machine... It is I think very interesting, might leave a mark as you tan haha, but in all I think it makes your trip even more special ! Havent tried FP+, but I am a bit skeptic on how other people will use it... I hope nobody will try to take advantage of a possible flaw, and that the queue lines wont be a mess !

It is great technology that can make future stays better, I hope, and I hope it will be implmented in other parks as they need more proper technology !!

I like the bands....there are many ways you can customize them. If you don't "get the appeal" of "cheap" plastic.....then I guess you don't get the appeal of grown folk letting loose and having fun at Disney wearing oversized hats with Goofy ears and wearing plastic Mickey Mouse Ear hats that light up. The Disney bands look a whole lot better than the one's they have at Great Wolf Lodge. This train of thought seems so old fashioned, stale and dated.

I would hate to know what this person's idea of fun is if they are so "offended" by a little plastic band..... that they don't have to use in the first place. I can understand why someone may not like the bands. But- this thread sounds like poster is calling the people who do like Disney's bands tacky and cheap.......and that is plain nasty. YUCK!!!! This thread is what's tacky. I would rather visit a farm and shuck corn than go to Disney with bored, cranky people who think like this.

Stay classy.... :thumbsup2

And everybody that goes to Disney worries about refined style. Especially when wearing their ear hats and pins.

:rolleyes1

If anything they are too subtle and refined for Disney. They need some bright patterned covers and several pins.

It's Disney, not a job interview.

:)

Please search for the customization thread...my MB is painted Cinderella blue with a glitter topcoat and 50+ Swarovski rhinestones Super-Glued on (including on top of the RFID--no issues). You can make it look however you want with a little DIY elbow-grease.

Besides, if you're only going for one trip, you shouldn't complain. I'm an AP holder who makes at least 50 day trips/year. Oh, the horror of matching my MB with whatever outfit I pulled out of my closet to go to class in the morning in before a Disney trip!! :rotfl2:

I think they look cute, especially when we all have different colors in my family. I was actually impressed with the quality and didn't think they were tacky at all.

Okay, I didn't call you all those names. I didn't call you nasty and I'm not cranky. I wasn't going to say anything about the bands themselves at all despite following the information for months because I thought we were going to have the choice of the card. However, today a poster on another thread said her party was told at check in that she could NOT use cards instead of bands. I had read from initial Disney information that we would be able to use the cards.

I think your post was far more personal than mine was about wearing plastic bands all day. You chose to hit me personally for some reason. I'm still not even cranky or bored. Sorry.

This actually made me LoL at the absurdity.

Why would anyone worry with making the band go with all their "outfits."

That is the last concern I have on my awesome Disney vacays.

With all the potential issues with FP+ and MDE that some of us are concerned about, what the Magic Band looks like is just not on my radar.

I'm another who likes the bands, allthough I may not keep thinking this way when I actually wear one.

Plus it's just another souvenir to add to my collection! :D

I don't understand why it is absurd. The rest of the year I would choose jewelry to coordinate my outfits. You can have an awesome Disney vacay and still care about your clothing and accessories.

I get lots of people consider it part of the Disney experience but I just have never liked wearing things like that. I didn't realize that made me an absurdity to be laughed at.

I thought we were going to have a choice of a card. Now, it seems that choice is gone.

I didn't mind the Magic Band, except for one day where I had a texture related meltdown (if you have sensory sensitive children, you will know the kind of meltdown I mean). However, I do wish the accessories for it included a fricking digital watch. I'd have bought a dozen of those.

The cool thing about Disney, is that no one knows who you are, or cares how you look. Wear it or don't wear it, it makes no difference to anyone but you. Stick it in your pocket if you don't like the way it looks. I am looking forward to trying one out.

I picked a green magicband but others in my family chose to go with the grey one that I've heard people in other threads refer to as the basic simple grey one they give you if you don't make a choice. They actually prefer the grey one,it goes with everything.Kinda like looking at those bright yellow sneakers at the store, they look good there but when you try and find an outfit to go with them you realize you don't have many options and wearing them with some other outfits just don't look right. For me it's not that big a deal, they're bracelets,it's not as big a deal if they don't match your outfit, crazy colored shoes sure but not a tiny bracelet on your wrist but some people out there are fashionistas and it's a bigger deal to them.I like the bands,I like not having to take out your pass to enter the parks or your room but I'll never link a credit card to them.

Meh, it's WDW, home of the crocs. Fashion a priority?
