Magic Bands 101

I'm very unclear on the new magic bands. I'm under the impression that we only get 3 FP per day. My family park hops. We are accustomed to getting 6-10 FS's every day. To be limited to 3 per day is awful. What's the incentive to park hop? Am I missing something (I hope)?

You only get three and they have to be in the same park. Park hopping is impacted by this for sure. I would think less people would be park hopping.

Animal Kingdom has done away with FP-, and I am sure the other parks will be too. You can still get a KTTW card at most resorts and still pull FP- along with your Fp+, but since only on site members get FP+, I would keep my 3 and try to pull more if not staying at All Star or Pop. I am sure more resorts will be doing away with the cards soon too.

Animal Kingdom has done away with FP-, and I am sure the other parks will be too. We are staying at the boardwalk. Are you saying that we can still get a card as we would normally get plus a magic band and use both options?

At the moment yes, except AK, which only uses FP+ so everyone there only gets three. However I think the FP- go pretty quick since off site visitors have to use them. Good luck, I hope you are able to get some extras.

Its like planning for a weeks convention at work...certainly NOT a vacation...this is supposed to be "family fun"??

It in the garden area on the right of the castle on the grass in front of tomorrow land Terrance restaurant (in front of where they do the dessert party). It is one of your 3 fastpasses for the day. Well worth it.

We got magic bands for our September 2013 trip, but my kids want new colors for our next trip (that has already been booked). I can't figure out how to order new ones. If I go onto the website, it just shows our old ones. Any suggestions?

When is your next trip. I went in dec and got bands. I have a trip coming in April and sept and have already customized those bands.

Not until September, but we got the package in with the Mickey flash drive and everything. Did it give you the option automatically or did you have to do anything?

When I log in to MDE it came up and told me I had magic bands to customize.

Currently, offsite guests can schedule FP+ when they arrive at AK at the FP+ kiosks.

Ok, I'm usually over on the DCL thread site because this has thoroughly irritated me (FP+). I decided I did NOT want to renew my AP this year due to all the hassle with the changes. I have leftover no expiration tickets that are still valid. I just booked an impromptu 2-6-14 birthday trip for one of my children because with all the fussing, I still can't stay away.

My questions are these (and please forgive me for not reading 35 pages tonight- I'll dig through it eventually):
I am now about 38 days from the trip so what do I do in order to book some FP+ attractions? (how do I "link" the paper tickets? Who do I call or do I have to wait until I get to guest services at WDW?
Is it better to do this now (if possible) or wait until I get to the parks since we kind of fly by the seat of our pants with a touring plan once we get here.

Really could go either way since you are going at one of the slowest times of the year. However, I would link the ticket on MDE and make your FP + selections. Not sure if there is any negatives to doing so...

When I call WDW and give them my numbers on the tickets, are they going to be able to tell how many days are left on each ticket? I have multiple leftover tickets and I don't know the exact amount of days on each. If I just pick a ticket and put it in the system, will the system know how many days are on there?
I'm just glad we won't need FP+ for stormalong bay. that is my son's favorite "attraction" there anyway.

I have not read through the entire thread, but where exactly does it say to personalize your MBs on MDE? I see that you can verify your address, but not where to customize? We still have a while, so maybe I am just too early. Just getting excited!

I read somewhere that you can get themed MB, i.e. princesses, Potc, etc...where do you get those...I was only to pick color and put names on ours
