Magic Bands 101

Was able to go in and customize my bands for our trip April 12 :goodvibes. The note was a bit misleading - said to customize and make FP+ reservations. I could customize but when I decided to see what happened when I tried to make FP, just told me I was not eligible yet. Nothing about coming back though, that I can recall.
 
WE are 4 people going to WDW 2 older adults and 2 teenagers.
Us adults do not do many rides. Can we book fp rides on our magic bands and then hand them off to the kids? We are entitled to use them?

Yes, just hand them your MagicBands and they can use the linked Fp+!
 

Thank you for the answer! Someone else told me that too. So looking at all the posts here should I expect problems when I visit?

Okay that would have been helpful if the front desk told us that. We are leaving right now and I just noticed that. UGH... but it also looks like once you remove the outer layer you cannot add it back.

The packaging for the MB's also showed how to do this resizing.

I think at this point, whether you are sleeping in your car at a rest stop or Cinderella's castle, or anywhere in between, you should expect problems. That way, if your trip goes smoothly, it'll be a nice surprise, but if not, at least you're prepared! :)
 
We got home from 10 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge last night. Customized our magic bands before we left. We linked our room door, FP+, credit card charging, our annual passes and our photo pass to the bands. Never had a problem.. Not one! Seems the biggest problems were with people going to claim their FP+ before or after the correct time, and not touching Mickey to Mickey. Everything went perfect, even for the kids (12 and 10). But one little bandits fell off :-(

We had one fall off too on RNR. But in 12 days of room, tickets, FP+, Dining Plan and charging that was our only issue. No glitches. We also saw many situations that were user issues.
 
We have two resort reservations back to back at the same resort (long story). I personalized one set of bands already. I can get a second set due to the second reservation. Do I need 2 per person, or can we use the bands for the whole trip (seems wasteful to get 2 if we don't need them).

You can use either set of bands for the whole trip, but there isn't a way to avoid getting a second set - at least not yet. One more Glitch in the system! Just pick other colors and you can change them up to match what you wear. :thumbsup2

So they will mail the second set anyways (even if we don't customize?)?

You don't need them. Either will work.

I have 4 back to back reservations. I'm expecting an influx of boxes in the next week. :)

They will not mail the second set if you don't customize them, but they will be waiting for you at check in.

You might as well customize the second set and get a second color. It's always nice to have a back up in case you lose one.
 
I will need to activate my AP when we arrive. Will they link it to my band at customer relations?
How far in advance do they mail the bands??:confused3
