Magic Band transfer?

We have several magic bands from a previous trip. On this trip, my sister and her kids will be joining us for 3 days and staying off property. Can I give them our old magic bands? Will they be able to link them to their tickets, and not have them linked to ours?

No. MBs are not interchangeable. Once their linked to one person you either keep it or essentially throw it away. You can deactivate it, but you won't be able to link it to anyone else.

So for them staying off site and not annual passholders, their only option if they want magic bands is to purchase them in the park.

But, if you want the kids to have MBs just so that they don't feel left out, you can deactivate your old MBs and let the kids wear them. They just won't work at the gate or for FP+. They will still need to use their tickets at those spots.

We have been able to do it. My husband has several, and back in March when my daughter and I became passholders we went to the Magic Band spot inside Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom to see if we could use two of his. The cast member wasn't sure if he'd be able to do it, but he was able to! It's worth a shot; good luck!

In December, somehow Disney decided to switch my band and my wife's band - in the middle of the day, while we were using them and they remained on our wrists. A trip to guest services got them fixed back, although with no explanation of how/why it happened. But whatever the underlying glitch (and I raised the concern that if our bands could be switched at random, couldn't a stranger's also?), clearly Disney can reassign them.

Agree with this. Disney screwed up my MDE account and deleted almost all of the magic bands off of it. They weren't able to reattach them, so to keep peace at my house, they ordered a magic band for my daughter under my son's name with instructions to call when it arrived and they would move it to the correct person.

Can't the magic bands be recycled? When I took my last trip, the CM had a new one ready for me at check-in, but I already had two so I had them keep it. I just assumed they recycled them. But if they are just going to throw it away, I'll keep the next one as an addition souvenier.

They must be thrown away.
They cannot be disassembled as the components are molded into the plastic.

True and not true. I had the frozen limited band linked to me. I then got the 2015 limited mickey band and called to see if they could transfer my already linked frozen one to my daughter cause she has been hounding me about it. They did it over the phone for me. She told me they don't usualy do it but she said I was very nice about it so they took care of it. It worked for my daughter this trip. She has a season pass. It was deff linked to me last trip cause I used it all trip when I bought it.

So Call and see if they can work some magic.
