Magic Band Question

Hey guys! Quick question about magic bands-- I have never purchased a decorated magic band, I always use the ones that get sent to my house before arrival. When you purchase a decorated magic band, does the one that got sent to your house become deactivated, or do they both stay active? If there's already a thread on this, I'm sorry. I went through the 2 first pages and didn't see anything about this.

Thank you both! Now this may be a silly question, but do you ever worry about any of the bands getting lost? What if the wrong person picks the active band up and uses your FP? What if you realize it too late before deactivating? This probably rarely happens, but just a concern.

1. What if the wrong person picks the active band up and uses your FP?
2. What if you realize it too late before deactivating?
3. This probably rarely happens, but just a concern.

1. That person would have to know WHAT attraction(s) and WHEN you HAD those FPs.
2. There's nothing to realize.
3. "Rarely" would be "never."

There's no way to know that from just having a MB.
2. Realize what?

1. Good point! Didn't think of that LOL
2. deactivating before you realize you lost it.
3. i hope it never happens! Sounds like it's pretty impossible given the information from #1 ;) lol

Someone knowing the fastpass times on a found band are virtually impossible. That same someone trying to use the band for charging is possible, but every band has a PIN code attached to it, set by you, and won't work unless that PIN code is entered at the time of purchase.

I don’t really worry about losing them. That said, we only keep one activated per person on our trips. We have sooooo many that keeping them all activated sometimes messes with the system and gives us glitches trying to open our room, etc. If we only keep one active per person per trip, we find it easier to avoid glitches. But, we each have about 20 bands, so......

We've had glitches and room-door-inactive problems with one and only one MB.

Glitches are a major "feature" of MDX and MBs.

I don't think it would be hard for someone with a motive to find out what's on your MB. Just walk up to a ride and try to tap in. The CM will tell you what ride is next for you...I've seen them do it many times. They just assume the person with the band is the proper owner. However, I'd highly doubt someone would really go to those lengths and I really wouldn't worry about it whatsoever.

There're easier ways than that.
But, the idea of attempting to actually USE a lost or stolen MB for FP rides...
since the thief wouldn't know if the MB was reported missing at any given time
and that thief would be
CAUGHT simply by scanning that reported MB...
what's the point?
A shorter wait to ride something vs. being banned from WDW.
