Magic band question..

I have more than one reservation because we are switching resorts.
By accident I press "get started" on customizing my bands for both reservations.
I only need one set of bands. I feel it's wasteful to have two sets if I am not going to need them.
Is there any way to not have one set shipped?

Or else, what do you do with two sets??

under profile -> magicbands and cards you'll find all of them and can opt out of 1 of them for everyone. If opt out doesnt' appear you'll need to call to get the second set stopped..

Other uses? If you're a color coordinator with your outfit, then you can get 2 colors to pick between. A backup in case something happens(rare). If you collect enough you can turn them into holiday garland.. Keepsakes for your kids and extras of them... I keep saying I wont be getting more but I always take them.

There is nothing linked to a magicband except a specific person in an mde account. They will work interchangeably with nothing you need to do to switch between them..

Make sure they are all working and linked correctly at check in. Avoid having more than 7 that are active on your account. Once you hit that or more; then it creates problems in the computer systems. Pick your favorites.

I modified the strap with a break away buckle and use them for cat collars.

Now my three kitties can only eat their own food because if they go near another cat's food a lid drops on it. Purrceus is a little chunky and we have him on diet food.

I just got a handful of the RF transceivers that will read the long range broadcast the magicbands put out. They were much cheaper than I was expecting (about $4.00 each). My plan is to be able to find my dad's cat when it runs off (he's an outdoor cat but the other cats pester him and he runs off to sulk for a day every now and again).

There's just an amazing amount of technology in the thing you can play with. During the first stages of development they cost Disney over $30 each. You can use the RFID marker in them to unlock your phone instead of a password every time you pick it up. You can't write to the band or really even read anything that's stored on it besides the serial number, but there's still a lot you can do with an rfid tag, if nothing else that's in it.

on the magic bands and cards page of MDE you can deny the bands.
So just deny the second set and you're all set.

If you were to get 2 sets you can use them interchangeably.

I agree with using them interchangeably - I like getting them each trip because I will paint them with acrylic paint! There is an entire thread on the board somewhere with people who have done that. You can also google it or go to etsy and see what I mean. I love painting them, so the more I have, the more I get to paint!

Sometimes glitches happen. The CMs like to do *something*, and deactivating bands is *something*. Doing something, anything, sort of shakes it up and works out the glitch, to put it in ridiculous terms LOL.

But not everyone, not by a long shot, has glitches.

If you do choose to get rid of a pair, call to have them assist you. It's so much easier than trying to figure it out yourself, and they are some of the nicest people I have ever talked to over the phone! They can look up your account and even fix it for you

I happens more frequently to people who have too many bands. The actual resort system was not designed to hold more than 10 bands a person. It will automatically make some of your bands not work. 10 is the limit.
