Magic Band Question

Not sure if this is the correct area to ask, but...
My family got Magic bands in 2013 and we are now going back in 2016, will they still work when I link my tickets to them? TIA

Yes. The Magic Bands are linked to your MDE account. You will also link your new tickets to the MDE account, thus enabling the bands to access the ticket entitlements.

One note: The long-range RFID chips in the bands actually can run out of battery life. Nobody knows exactly how long they last, though a lot of us now have bands going back several years. If they die, it would only affect the ride photos that are automatically loaded. It would not affect the ability to use them at the gate or FP+ points, as those use passive RFID technology powered by the tap point, not the battery.

Just so you know, if you are staying on site you'll get new ones and will not be able to decline them due to time between trips.

Thanks everyone I was only worried about the FP+ and gate entry. It's good to know that they use the passive RFID tech.
We are staying offsite this time, so no new bands for us
