Magic Band Question

I'm staying offsite for my upcoming trip. Am I able to purchase magic bands from the online disney store and then link them to my account before I leave so we have them with us when we arrive?

But remember other than the convenience of not having to look after a plastic card in your wallet the only other advantage to MagicBands for off-site guests is that ride photos will automatically appear in your MDE account. If you are happy to touch your ticket card to the reader next to the monitor for ride photos and touch your card to the reader for entry and FP, then there is not much to gain by having a MagicBand. You might be spending $13 on something that doesn't help you.

I'm wondering if it will be easier to have the bands esp for kids (who are 11 and 12) then to constantly have to take out tickets....decisions, decisions.
