Magic Band question

When are the magic bands "activated". Like once you check in? We are arriving Monday morning and would like to use a quick service credit early before our room is ready.

They are activated once you check-in.

You can check-in and even if your room isn't ready, your entitlements (tickets, dining credits, etc.) will be activated. Disney wants to get you out to the parks and spending money as soon as possible!

You can leave your bags with bell services if you would like to go out and about.

Yes, Mickey and family need their money! Seriously, this is the first trip that we will use the Magic Bands. Just when we got everything figured out, they started using this technology. Not against it, just comfortable with the old way of doing things. Should be fun I am sure.

When you check in they have you activate them at the Mickey head ball and then you add a pin to it.

Checking in online doesn't actually check you in, as weird as that sounds. It basically allows your hotel to do a lot of the preliminary stuff before you get there, so that the when you arrive at the front desk, you get processed quicker. You would definitely need to check in at the hotel in order to be able to use your dining credits.

What about the testing going on where room numbers are just texted to people after online check in?
