Magic Band problem...I need advice

So we got our magic bands in the mail yesterday. Our trip is in 3.5 weeks. I noticed in the information inside the box that the Magic Bands could be potentially dangerous for people with imbedded pacemakers. My mother in law has one, so I am thinking she should not wear the band. Does anyone here have a pacemaker or know someone with one? How did you handle it?
The information in the box said something about requesting a card to use instead of an MB. Should I do that right now and have it mailed to me? Or can I just pick one up once we arrive at the resort?

You would request the card upon check-in at your resort. The current MYW tickets & Annual Passes are issued on RFID Admission Cards that can be used in place of a MagicBand.

The information on Disney's website about implanted pacemakers and MagicBands says to keep the MagicBand at least 9 inches away from the implanted device.

Implanted Pacemakers or Cardioverter-Defibrillators and RF Technology

If you have questions about your medical device and RF technology, we encourage you to seek the guidance of the manufacturer of your device and your physician. Manufacturers of Implantable Pacemaker and Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) typically recommend that you keep your medical device 9 inches (23 cm) away from RF transmitters comparable to the one found inside the MagicBand and touch points found throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

If you suspect interference with your device is taking place, move away from the RF device so it is at least 9-inches (23-cm) distance away from your Pacemaker or ICD.

Do the admission cards do everything the magic bands do, such as manage FP, unlock hotel rooms, and pay for things in the parks?

Yes.

The only thing they will not do is remote activate Memory Maker for ride photos or allow them to find your table at Be Our Guest to deliver your food (in that case, they have a device they will give you). They will work for anything where you are required to touch the card to a scanner.

Thanks! We're not doing BOG and I'm sure any rides she goes on she will be with one of us (who will be wearing the bands). So that works out. Thanks everyone!

No one has to wear the band. I never do. I just have it in my bag and take it out when I need it. But, if you don't want your mother-in-law to even handle the band (I think the warning is a "just-in-case" safety precaution but to each her own), then you or someone else in your party can have the band and hold it up at the turnstiles and FastPass locations for your mother-in-law. A simple smile and a "She (or I) ha(s)(ve) a Pacemaker" will be fine.
