Magic band or ticket if staying offsite?

Hi , do you only get a magic band if staying on Disney property? Do people staying offsite get a ticket when they've purchased their park tickets? Many thanks

When you purchase your tickets online (it's more expensive at a Ticket Window), choose the actual plastic ticket option. After linking them to your MDE account, the plastic tickets will provide the link to your MDE account and you'll use them to enter the parks and FP lines.

You do not need to purchase the MagicBands that are provided to onsite guests.

But you can purchase a Magic Band at the park (in the gift shops) or order one to be delivered to your home before you leave. You then add Magic Band info to your MDE account. The only advantage is wearing it on your wrist instead of using the ticket, but it is an option.

There's a large info post about magicbands (link below). resorts get them because it's their room key. there is only a couple ride photos you must have one for.. otherwise the hard ticket is fine.
