Magic Band Is Tracking Me And I Don't Like It

The reason i personally DO like this tracking system is because last trip after my SIL, niece and nephew were in bed, my BF & I lost my brother in MK somewhere. Hours later we walked back to BLT to a sleeping family, expecting my brother was one of them. Half an hour later he comes in and when we asked where he was he said "oh, I was working". Now, he does work from home and had been using the amenities at CR to get work done late at night so we "half" believed him. The next day, unbeknownst to him, we went online and found 8, yes EIGHT pictures of him on Space Mountain making hilarious faces with complete strangers!!!:rotfl2: He was caught OUT!!!! He never swiped his band, he thought he was slick, but Mickey saw him!!

Honestly - I could care less that they know where I am while at WDW. What does it matter. I just returned from a 10 day trip two days ago (stayed at AKV) and I did not recieve any such emails.

I have a RFID blocking slips for my credit cards, which I use every day. At the parks I have the RFID blocking bag* for the magic bands (MB).
We put the MB on when entering the park, and at some rides that we want to have pictures. On days we know we'll be taking lots of photo pass pictures, we'll leave it on.

Tangent: I don't have a phone that takes apps, but DH has a phone that apps. We make sure wireless features (insert technical name here) are turned off. His phone was "cloned" in Key West a few years ago, and he never left the phone outside of his sight/possession. After a number of calls/data to Cuba on "his phone," he straightened out the issue with the carrier. Hasn't happened since the above (abundantly cautious?) precautions.

*(Goes nicely with my stylish tin foil hat. :umbrella: )

I do understand and appreciate technology, even at my old age, but it still is creepy to me. Guess it's my generation.
I remember the time when I got home from a solo trip and I got an email saying I had photopass pictures. I didn't have any photopass pictures taken. I went online and sure enough there is me on Expedition Everest with dates and times. It was shocking.

I've gotten used to it. With the free photopass on AP's, it's nice to have the pictures without doing anything.

For those that it bothers, why does Disney tracking you bother you more than the DIS tracking you. Any website you visit, tracks you.

I don't love that either, but I dislike more the tracking of where I'm physically at every second.

My answer exactly. Lack of privacy is disconcerting in general but browsing seems less blatant than seeing your name exiting Small World and the presence of a physical Big Brother.
