We are going in June and staying offsite in our timeshare. My question is we weren't going to get magic bands since I know you have to buy them if you are not onsite however my question is if we DID want to get them where and how do you do that and how do you tie them in with your stuff.

I was thinking about just getting one for myself because I am going to do Memory Maker but when I talked to my mom she said it might be fun to get them anyway just for the convenience with tickets and FP etc.

So any info and help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks. :)

2. how do you tie them in with your stuff.

1. Every full-service gift shop at WDW... Parks, Resorts, DTD/DS.
2. Add the MB's number to your MDE account in the "MagicBands" section. Instantly ready.

You can also order MBs from the Disney Store website HERE.

So would that also then add the Memory Maker and I am sorry if this seems like a stupid question but when I update or add FP via MDE does that then translate to the band? I'm sorry if I sound stupid but we haven't been in 6 years so this is all new. Thanks. :)

Anything you do to MDE is automatically also linked to the band. A magicband stores no information but rather serves as a gateway to the information that is on your MDE account.

You also don't need a band for any of this. Your ticket will work just like a magicband except instead of being on your wrist it is a plastic card. Some people still bring the lanyards and card holders and then you essentially have the same ease of access as the magic band with just your ticket since once you link a ticket to MDE it works almost 99% the same as a magicband. The only difference is a magicband has a long distance RFID which means ride photos can be autoloaded and a few meet and greats in the future will have tech that uses them but the rest of it is the same and none of the long distance RFID features are 100% at the moment.

Should do!

Sometimes it gets a little complicated and we had to speak to Customer Services as we had a party of 8 and one of us had the photopass, so we essentially had to link all of them to that account.

If there are problems, Disney will sort it on site.

I wasn't sure/I was sceptical, but I'm now 100% glad we got ours in October and we can use them next October! Whooppppeeee.

PS the long distance RFID on 7DMT is really cool. Totally unexpected!

Just to be clear, the "long distance RFID" is not something that is experienced DURING the attraction.

It's a photo/video clip that shows up in your account.
AND, BTW... you do not need to have Memory Maker to get that video (but, you do need a MagicBand.)

We did not have MM, but after we returned home, they eMailed me many times with the blasted video clips of us riding 7DMT.

I thought it was quite clever how they knew we were riding and made a video! :)

You could always purchase your MagicBands online at the Disney Store and then just link them to your MDE account. Our FP's, our ADR's, our CC's, our MM all on the MB's. One thing I hate when going to WDW is always having to dig DH or my wallet out of our backpack. This way we never have to ;)

That's what lanyards work well for. Keeping tickets *right there*. No wallets or digging required, even without a plastic bracelet.

We were offsite and got bands. They are all around on property if you want to do it that way or online works great too. It is super simple to link them to your account, just enter the number on the back of the band and you are good to go. We initially got them because I just had to have Tink and the family we were traveling with were staying onsite and would have them. I loved the photo and video we got from 7DMT (and there is no place to tap a card to get your photo so the only way to get it is if you have a band) and from TOT. We ended up making our bands a bit extra of a souvenir by having the character on the band autograph the band. I definitely don't regret getting them and for me it was a perfect little addition to their Easter baskets (which were actually suitcases for the trip, we went in July).

Yea orig I hadn't planned on getting them but someone said to do it for the videos and ease with MM but I think my kids would love to get them (the fancy ones) as a souvenier so we might as well all do it LOL. More as a souvenier than anything else. I get that we could carry the tickets and I may just keep them on me just in case but thanks so much everyone. I was hoping everything you said was correct but just wanted to confirm with the experts. Thanks again!!! :)
