Magic Band Confusion

Yesterday I finally got around to calling Disney about downgrading my Park Hoppers for Standard tickets. They were very helpful and it was a quick/easy process. Also yesterday my magic bands arrived in the mail. Will this mess up my magic bands in any way? Will the band "know" my ticket option has changed? Just worried about having to stand in the long lines I have seen on Youtube at Guest Services. I am assuming the band gets updated with changes to hotels/dining/tickets. The last time I was at WDW there were no bands yet LOL!

When you link your magic band it will link to the tickets you currently have.

Hi @Cinders1, from my experience, we are AP holders and have gotten magic bands for resort stays that we have canceled. They work fine. We also have ones from when we upgraded from Silver to Platinum and they still work. I feel you should still be ok.

The bands do not store anything but a code that refers to your online account. When you tap/scan your band, the system looks up your account and reacts from what it gets from it. There is no error risk related to the change you made and the use of the bands.

The only issues I have had with magic bands is the room door. Just there earlier this month, had magic bands for the current trip, and from the trip we were supposed to do when everything shutdown. Most of them opened the door with the exception of one of the two for my daughter and both of mine (was able to fix at the front desk). Not the first time had problems with “new” magic bands opening doors. Now, never had an issue with charging (of course because disney wants to make sure you can charge) and park tickets.

We have had this issue in the past. One of my bands would not work to access the 6th floor at AKL but both of my husband's worked. The attendant in the lounge fixed it in a couple of minutes.
