Can you get a purple magic band? I heard a bit ago that they were adding purple as an option. If not I know you can purchase other designs, how does that work? If you get a special design magic band can you transfer existing passes to the new band?

The purple is available for purchase, but not as one of the complimentary choices for onsite guests.

You can have as many bands as you like linked to your MDE account, and use them interchangeably. There is nothing "on" a magic band, it is just a link to your account, to access park passes, fastpasses, room reservations, etc.

So you can receive the complimentary one in whichever color you choose, and purchase another in the park or online ahead of time. Both can be used.
