Magic Band Battery Life?

We had magic bands in December 2014. Went back in December 2015 and the bands worked fine but we did not get the in ride photos automatically like we did the year before so maybe the battery was dead. Who knows. Wasn't really an issue for us but I did notice that part did not work.

We bought ours May 2014, and we are returning June of this year. I'm assuming our batteries are probably dead. What did you do in order to get your ride photos that did not add correctly? Just curios in case this happens to us. We are using the Memory Maker.

On the rides that still have the "ride photo kiosk" at the exit of the ride (getting scarcer...)
You can touch-scan your MagicBand (or Park Ticket) on the Mickey Head touch-point on the way out of the attraction,
and choose your photo from those displayed.

I don't know if any of this is accurate but a CM just told us that the regular magic bands last 2-3 years and that the custom ones that you purchase last 5-6 years. Might have just been trying to convince us to buy them.

The rated power of the transmitter vs. the battery results in an estimate 2-3 years.

The FCC approved the new transmitter and they are now shipping those with stronger power (I didn't break open one yet to see if the power draw or battery changed). If it works over 2 years for ride photos, consider yourself lucky. Also keep in mind it's when the band was made.. limited edition bands might be 2 years old when you baught it... I had this happen to me with the grey haunted mansion band. I got 1 trip out of it.

no way.. those are the first I've had stop working with ride photos.

I think it really depends how many days your in a park.. they are in a low power listen mode until they get a signal to turn on the transmitter while at a park.. a local will probably find them lasting less than a yearly visitor.
