I can understand that Magic Bands look cool (and appealing for the sake of being Disney), but is there much benefit to them when there are no FPs? I am trying to decide if it makes sense buying them for our next short (1 day) trip. If we buy them for this trip, I assume this will be the only time they'll be used (assuming bands are being retired later this year?).

Disney is NOT retiring MagicBands. They are no longer provided for free with a room reservation or annual pass, but they will continue to be sold for quite sometime. Disney has also stated they intend to keep releasing new designs.

For one day? I would say no, not worth it.

I'm a MB fan, but I can't imagine what you would be using it for aside from park entry. I'm guessing you would not be charging purchases back to a resort room or buying memory maker?

My family will be there this August. If our old MB don’t work anymore we are going to get KTWCs and use our phones. You can definitely charge back to the room on the KTW.

I was to WDW in November but my adult sons haven’t been there since 2018. I really don’t want to pay for a magic band, my sons usually kept them in their pockets.

I can see the appeal for many, but there are other options. And going forward, I bet the APP will have more features. What’s great is Disney has many options these days. I do love seeing some of the great and fun designs on others MBs. 👍🏻😎

No, definitely not needed for one day or ten days or every day.

The only thing I would make sure you do is get a KTTW card...the phones have been HORRIBLE at opening the doors. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't and we ran into probably 4-5 CMs who didnt know what or how to scan the tickets in our wallet for different things throughout our trip.

If you're staying on property and complete your resort check in from your phone and skip the front desk and your phone doesnt work, they do have a number you can call and they will send someone over to let you in but make sure you ask them to bring you a KTTW card. If you do check in at the front desk, just make sure you get one then. if you're not on property, no....don't worry about the magic band at all. Its just one more thing to worry about and they force you to your phony anyway so you know you'll have that no matter what.

Keep in mind if you have old bands, they will still work and are probably still "active" in MDE. I was pulling mine out yesterday for a trip next week and saw on MDE we have over 50 bands. When even have some of the orginals that had a narrow design.

But for a 1 day trip and if you are not staying onsite, there is no need really.

I would get them if you think you’ll be back in the next year or two, you’ll be able to them then and if history is any indication, the price will keep creeping up.
