Hi everyone :wave2:We are seasoned Disney goers but have always stayed on site at either POFQ or Coronado Springs. We are just in the middle of buying a fabulous 33 ft trailer. Our original plan was close to home extended long weekends but the picture of FW are so pretty that now I am toying with the idea of a Disney camping trip. Except, my kids are dead set against it. They are 10 and 12 and love the resorts and all the wonderful CM's, and the "smells" of Disney. So my main question is, if you are just in the campground, do you still "feel" like you are at Disney. We had never thought of replacing our regular Disney resort vacation with the trailer but it just seems like something fun and exciting to do! Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. tia

1) Sure, the kids favor the resorts.
2) That is all they know.
3) Ask them to give FW camping ONE shot.
4) I bet they fall in love with it.
. . . biking
. . . canoeing
. . . swimming
. . . fishing
. . . lots of other kids to play with !
. . . evening campfire for the singalong and movie

Our son wasn't for FW at first either. He loved it, never wanted to go back to a resort. There are also 2 arcades, basket ball hoops and he loved bringing his electric scooter.

We've stayed everywhere. My kids would never want to stay anywhere else, but the Fort. 24 hours in and they will be hooked. We even bought a tent for behind the RV because we now have the kids' friends that want to go every time. Nothing like it. You won't even have to worry about it. Just force them to go and smile the entire way. They'll get it once they arrive.

Magic never ends at the fort! They have created one magical camping experience IMO! Evening Campfire with chip and dale is the best part too!

I haven't seen all the pools at the resorts but FW has an awesome pool with a slide that any child would love.

Oh heck yeah! The Fort was one of the original three resorts, so to me it feels like the original Disney magic more than anything.

If your family likes camping at all they will love the Fort. My gang just turned down a chance at a resort with free dining to go back to the Fort. They are too excited about all the Halloween activities and golf carting. But to each his own. Hope it works out for your family.

You definitely still feel like you are at Disney, just maybe a calmer version. My kids love the fort so much especially my 11 year old, that they asked to go this year and not do the parks! Get a golf cart, watch the fireworks from the beach, do the campfire, the pool, ride a boat over to wilderness lodge.... So much to do we always included several out of the parks days while we are there. My kids have stayed at many of the other resorts on and off site and the fort is hands down their favorite. (

Being the Camping sub forum you may think, "of course they are going to recommend the Fort." but I've got to agree -- 24 hours camping at the Fort and you won't want to stay anywhere else again!

Make sure you rent a golf cart. It's not needed, but it's FUN!
