Magic April 6, 2012

I too am surprising my DD. It has been hard keeping the secret. Me and my sister are soooo excited! We talk in code... Everyone knows about the cruise but her...even her teacher.:teacher:
She just wrote an essay for homework about her dream vacation for spring break and she said it would be to go on a Disney Cruise with a slide, meet the wicked witches and visit Florida(There has been alot of commercials on TV)...LOL. I about flipped my lid. I get to make her dream come true!!!!
Her birthday is Friday 4/6 so I'm going to have her a surprise family birthday party on Tuesday with a whole Mickey theme... DCL offers a call from Mickey welcoming her on the cruise. So this is how I'm telling her.:yay:
Half the fun is telling everybody so I wanted her to have one day to tell all her friends at school and give out Mickey cupcakes.
We leave Thursday morning, and are staying at Cocoa Beach one night.

Needless to say I'm going to be world's best Mommy! For one week any ways...lol

Christina,
How exciting!!! She is going to be BLOWN AWAY! What a special and memorable birthday- LOTS of pictures!!
Yesterday I was googling ideas for stateroom door decor and I stumbled across some fantastic themeing ideas for a Mickey party- I think it was from pinterest- so fun! My favorite was cupcakes topped with oreos with two mini Oreos for Mickey ears. So easy and fun
What birthday is this for your daughter? I have noticed there are a lot of girls in the 7-8 age group. (My daughter is 7).
Be sure to post how it all goes!

hello all, should i be concerned, i still have not received any documents in the mail yet, and im not sure what i should be getting? i completed everything on line.
Hey there. I would call TA ASAP! I used a TA and I got mine a week and a 1/2 ago!

Hey there Carolinamom. I'm not too good at that stuff, as I have never been one to keep a secret like that.:sad1: Do your kids know that you are traveling to Florida to begin with? If so then the car games would be perfect. If they don't, you could schedule a DCL call along the way to you r cell#. Just a thought. As for the coffee maker, "Box o Joe" from Dunkin Dognuts works! lol Hope you child feels better very soon. No fun being sick on vacation! Look forward to seeing you soon. Jenn:goodvibes

My Daughter is turning 7...There does seem like a lot of kids in her age group.
Which is awesome....Wonder if their is anybody in my age group?...Single parent humor...lol.

Do you guys like Chinese food? stop along the way for chinese or If you don't you could still have fortune cookies pre-made with clues(you can find them at chinese market) give them one every so often along the way.

Or you could just decorate a box filled with clues and have them draw one out.

Sorry to say but I think I'm going to miss the kids meet at 215 on boarding day. From the posts and copies of past navigators I have been looking at... the "ship tour" thing that my youngest son really wants to do is right around that time.

Let me know if everyone is meeting some other time. I really would like to meet everyone.

Jillian

Hi everyone,
I have been reading for a while, but only now registered.
Long time Disney fans, (have been to WDW numerous times, and once to DL), but first time cruising.

Will be cruising on the Magic, in 2 short weeks, so excited!!

It will be me, DH, and our 7 y.o. DD. Looking forward to maybe meeting some families with children in same age group.

Hi LullahBelle and welcome to our group! We are having a Kids Meet on embarkation day at 2:15pm. We will be meeting at Pinocchio's Pizza Starboard side of ship. If you can join us then that would be a great way for your daughter to meet some of the other kids that will be on board. We have several 7-8 year old girls in our group. Look forward to seeing you there! Jenn

Hi Jillian. So sorry to hear you won't be joining us at the meet. Stop by if possible even just for a quick hi. See you on board!

Thanks Jenn,
we are flying in that same morning, and arriving at the port via magical express, somewhere around 1:00 PM, don't know how quickly they can process us, etc., but will make every effort to meet up, at 2:15.:)

Just think 2 weeks from today we will be on The Magic...:cool1: We are all so excited..my boys ask every morning how much longer :goodvibes

Does anyone want to plan something for US ADULTS? I have no idea what we should do regarding this one! :confused3 Maybe one of the "Veteran Cruisers" could suggest something, as they have done this before. I would love to get together for some adult conversation and a beverage or two! :yay: I can hardly believe in 2 weeks we will be sailing away! So excited! lol Looking forward to meeting ALL of you. Jenn :disrocks:party::thanks:

Yay! Only 2 weeks to go ( or should I say 8 1/2 school days?)!
I was wondering, do any of you have a son in the 9-12 age range? My son is 10, but in the 6th grade. He gets along with kids of all ages, but it would be nice to find someone of a common age or grade. He is not at all shy, and I'm sure he'll make friends in kids club, but it would be cool to find a friend from this group (especially since there are so many kids Caroline's age)

HI everyone! Whew...crazy week & I'm trying to get caught up. Welcome to our new cruisers :grouphug:

Snubadad...any word on the documents yet?? They look like a small spiral notebook, kind of deceiving if you don't know what you are looking for. That's really strange you haven't received them yet!!

Surprise trips! Ahhh the memories....we tried that once for a Star Wars weekend when my son was in 1st grade. Big mistake with him. We took him out of school early, got to the airport & he started screaming & crying at the top of his lungs, pulling away from us! He didn't want to go with us, leave me alone, he wanted to go back to school....OMG, I wish we had it on video! It was funny at the time, I guess this is what happens when you take kids to Disney too much  (Later as I thought about it, I was a little bothered by it...not a single person came up to see if he was ok! No security, no airport police, no one...we could have been kidnapping the kid! Sheesh!) Anyway, by the time he got on the plane he was really excited to go and he had a fantastic time & we've gone almost every year since for SWW...but no more surprise trips for us! :lmao:

Wow! That is hilarious! Sometimes the ideas that backfire a teesey bit (or a lot!) are the ones that give you the belly laughs later!
Our kids are pretty savy, and I can't deny that I hope they pick up on the idea that we MAY be going SOMEWHERE... We did the surprise trip idea a few years back for a Christmas trip to Disney. Told them we were going to the grandparents house, then at a gas station an hour from home, we had them open a gift- plush Mickey and Minnie in Christmas garb! They were so excited! The only minor backfire? We travel a lot and I think they now have a bit of a warped perspective. We told them about a month ago that we are going to Aruba (as in: this summer). My son's response: "Today?" LOL!!!
I have been pouring obsessively over the Disboards and have found some really great tips. Now I am working on trying to get something creative going for easter. And packing...well, PLANNING packing. And working out...well PLANNING...you get the idea! LOL!!!:rotfl2:

Does anyone have any good ideas for Easter baskets or presents? I dont want to order anything because it will be put in your room on friday. I called DCL and they said there should be Easter merchandise like characters with ears..etc but she did not sound confident. Of course I do not want to put any chocolate in my bags :)
I was thinking of getting a disney gift card for each child and looking at the disney store for a plush character Easter themed and packing some Jelly Beans....this way we can add the gift cards to our on board acct and they can pick out what they want.
Any ideas are appreciated :)

hi stimpy..no documents yet. TA said she sent them 3-22, the day i called her, so i hope monday or tuesday.

Hey JandBmom! I did the "Bon voyage" package and put from the Easter bunny on the card- the company was totally out of all Easter items! I plan to hide my soft Easter "baskets" (themed totes from the Disney store) until Sunday- they will be filled with Disney beach and pool things, toys, candy, etc...
I mentioned in a previous post that I picked the most hide-able pack-able things I could find. (The beach things are for castaway cay if the kids choose). I may also do Disney gift cards for on-board spending :-)
Hope that helps!
Also- I did find soft personalized Mickey Easter baskets online, but they were a tad young for my kids. Disney store online sells cute Easter plush Mickey and Minnie, too! Hard to pass that up!

I'm packing a felt bag that folds flat in my suitcase along with some small items.
Walgreen's had some cute things. They have a five color writing pen filled with candy topped with mickey or other characters for only 1.50.
Note pads for Journaling/drawing and non-melt y candy. I will hide basket Sat. night when she is sleeping, probably in the closet so she search for it Easter morning.
I was at Disney store yesterday and they had small Mickey and Minnie Plush that were dressed in bunny costume and Minnie smelled like white chocolate and Mickey like milk chocolate. Yummm! $7.50 with 25.00 purchase. ( you can get your gift cards)

****Super excited only 9days 13hrs. 58min and 13 sec****:cool1:

I ordered 2 baskets from Perfect Gift. (I ordered from Shirley every trip out of Port Canaveral...I actually missed it so much when we sailed out of Dover! It's part of our planning! :upsidedow) Either my husband or I will go to the stateroom early wh file the kids are swimming the first day & hide the baskets in the closet.

I'm also bringing some plastic eggs to hide in the stateroom from the Easter Bunny...not sure how well that will work yet! My kids actually enjoy that part the most, more than the baskets. I'm not sure how much of a challenge it will be or who will be up to hide the eggs! Sometimes the kids outlast us while watching those Disney movies on the tv at night :lmao:

My parents are going to put their regular Easter Baskets out at home while we are away so they are here when we get back.
