Today was St. Patricks Day or Wednesday, March 17.
The Magic docked in Cozumel, Mexico.
Okay, first I have to say that I neglected to tell in my last report that DS slipped on a wet deck and fell flat on day 5. He wasnt hurt and he laughed about it with his friends. That's not really that important, but I put it in for some of my angel friends from the Community Board. They know our family history. LOL!
We skipped breakfast and got off the ship. We decided to walk to the Cozumel Sally's mini golf and then shop back to the ship. So as we walk down the street I am craning my neck to check out all the shops. I wanted to see what was there, so I'd know what to look for coming back. Now, I know Mexico. I've been there lots of times. I know better than to walk down a sidewalk without looking where I'm going. While looking across the street, I stepped in a hole. I shuffled a little, trying to regain my footing and get the right foot out of the hole it was in, to no avail. Splat! I fell flat on the sidewalk. I hurt my knee and both ankles, but one was much worse than the other. I took quick stock of the situation. Nothing seemed broken and I didn't want to miss the port, so I decided I'd survive. I was carrying the camera at the time. Luckily, it was undamaged by the fall.
We hobbled all the way to the mini golf place. We were a little early, so we went across the street and I used my limited Spanish to buy an elastic bandage for my ankle. We wrapped it and the stability helped some. We met Sally. She's really sweet. The course is beautiful. Very tropical! We saw lizards and birds everywhere. Halfway through the game, black clouds rolled in and it started to pour. We ran for cover and DD slipped on a wet tile. Her feet went out from under her. She fell on her golf club and broke it. When she got up, her flip flop was busted along with the golf club. DH sang a verse of Margaritaville, since she blew out a flip flop. She was okay. Her chest was bruised and she was skinned up. I told her she didn't have to do that just to make her old mom feel better about being clumsy. Dad walked her down the street after the shower to buy a new pair of sandals. Then we got a new club and finished the course. DH says if you like sangria, you have to sample Sally's. He loved it.
With all our injuries, we decided not to go back to the ship for lunch. Instead we went to Sonora Grill. The food was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We even had a roaming guitar player stop by.
We went shopping on way back to ship. Our purchases included a silver letter opener, silver cuff links, a Mexican blanket, a silver dolpin ring and necklace, and a dolphin pareo (DD loves dolphins). The kids and I limped back to the ship while DH went to buy some liquor to take home. We had intended to go to the beach, but it didn't happen. We'll do that next time.
Dinner that night was Mexicalifragilisticexpialidocious. Dress was tropical. We had an appetizer with the kids in Animator's Palate (I think I chose shrimp) before going to Palos for dinner ourselves. Dinner at Palo's was incredible! The food was so good and the service was wonderful. Annie Marie was our server and she was so sweet. I can't even begin to tell you about the meal, but it was magical.
After dinner the kids had their photo made for me in their tropical attire and then went to see the movie Hidalgo together. Later the Stack had a Glow Blitz dance with black lights and glowing bracelets.
When we got back from dinner our bed was covered in rose petals. This was another part of the Romantic Escape at Sea package. We discovered the next morning the bathtub had petals floating in it as well, although the tub is so small I'm not sure why they bothered with that. Amy returned to the room at about the same time we did, so it wasn't very romantic, but it sure made the room smell lovely.
My ankle was hurting so I think we spent the rest of the evening on our veranda drinking wine. I know they had a St. Pats celebration going on that we considered going to, but the sky was full of stars so we just sat outside and held hands.
