Hello, everyone! Getting excited!:jumping1: :jumping1:

Someone mentioned about buying stamps...should I bring USA stamps to mail out post cards or do I need to buy stamps from boat/islands?

I got to do last minute sewing on my DD's(11)formal dress. I just received it yesterday from CA and it's bit too long and couldn't find a seamstress that would do it...then my DD has so much trust in me, she says "Mom, you know how to sew, why don't you do it." I was just trying to free up some time but in a few minutes, I'm going to start sewing to get this done...because the rest of the day it SHOT! WE are leaving this evening and getting very nervous:hyper:

SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!

Post# 1400 HHeeeeeeeehhhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Bags are packed cash is in the pocket Expedition if FULL of gas and at 1:00 today it's "NO MORE WORK FOR ME"!!!!!!!! DDs get home from school at 3:15 and it's pack a cooler for the "night in indy" and head to the hotel.....it's about a 140 mile ride and there is a time change......but guess what TIME DOESN'T MATTER......I'LL BE ON ISLAND TIME!!!!

Why do I get the feeling that Jimmy Buffett will be playing on the cd player all the way to Indy?:p

My girls here at work will be happy when I leave......I've been playing Buffett and "Christmas in the Carribean" on my computer for the past week!!!!

HOWDY CHRISTINE!
And welcome aboard the BEST Magic cruise of the year! Good luck to your daughters football team! I love HS football.

Lampskies, congratulations on your 1400th post! You are officially a DIS nut!

That loud sound you just heard in the background was my wifes suitcase exploding. I swear it is PACKED to the MAX!

Willie

P.S. SOME BEACH, SOME WHERE.........IS WAITING FOR ME!!

Willie............why does that phrase "p.s. some beach, some where........is waiting for me" remind me of home depot? Dis nut Willie............somebody told me once that I was "certified". That mean anyting to you?

Here's some "postal information" I got from these boards....FYI

When sending international mail, you only use stamps from the country from which the mail is being sent. The various postal services around the world worked this out a long time ago.

From Mexico -- from http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mg...ection=tra&pg=3
It costs 8.50 pesos (about 90¢) to send a postcard or letter weighing under 20 grams to the United States or Canada; it's 10.50 ($1) to Europe and 11.50 ($1.20) to Australia.

From Cayman Islands -- http://www.caymanislands.co.uk/serv...ostal_rates.asp
In CI currency, the current postal rates are: Postcards: to the US: 20 cents; to the UK/ Europe, 25 cents. Letters: (per half ounce) to the US: 30 cents; to the UK/Europe, 40 cents. Greeting cards: to the US, 60 cents; to the UK/ Europe, 80 cents.

20 Cayman Islands cents = approx. 25 U.S. cents.

Thanks for all of the great information!! We are looking forward to meeting all of you on the Magic!!

To those of you who are already on vacation--enjoy!! :jester:

The downside of living in Florida is that we have to work today and tomorrow and then drive to the Port saturday morning. :(

Oh well!! We are very, very excited!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Lampskies - What is the "Christmas in the Caribbean" CD? Who sings? I have been forcing my family to listen to Kenny Chesney's Christmas cd - Mostly the song "All I want for Christmas is a real good tan:!!!!! - I don't think they can listen to that all the way to the port tomorrow. Would love to have another CD that would get us in the spirit!
Carol

I'm not sure who sings it I downloaded it off the computer a couple years ago............we usually fly out of midway at 7:00 a.m and I wake them up with the music blaring thru the speaker system in the house.....maybe I should make it their wake up call tomorrow!! They had a "reagee christmas" concert on a sea day on our Eastern sailing after Thanksgiving.....I hope they do that on this sailing!!!!

I agree - combining Christmas music and the islands.............. sounds wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope they have that too! Carol

Lampskies: Thanks so much for taking the time to find out. You must be already packed since you took the time doing this. I just don't have time to be smart.

Thanks,

from the Turkey Day Gang. :jumping1:

Okay my sister that you have all heard about just told me that I have disappointed her...I'm not yet packed. I've been meaning to and I even started on Monday night by getting Eric's things lined out...but then I've been to St. Louis for sis's doctor appointment, solved the mysteries of the ionic bond CaCl2 and worked a few assignments in the process...Some of us haven't been as fortunate as Lampy...lucky dog....remember to save some shrimp for us.

Tonight is laundry and ironing...I hates ironing...and pre-packing. Tomorrow I only have to work one assignment and then I'm off to the Day Spa for a princess: Pedicure...gotta have sandal toes! I will finish the packing in peace and quiet while Nic is at school and Eric is installing my sync software so I can back up my PDA before we leave.

Nic decided to go to the junior high homecoming so he'll be out a bit late, but can sleep in the limo, plane, and bus to the port.

On the subject of stamps...
Remember you can buy them at CC paying for them with CASH. I haven't a clue what the cost is, but our house sitter just told me they used to have really cute Disney stamps.

And not that we need it, but the last time I checked the exchange rate for GC it was about $0.80 to the GC dollar and about 11 pesos to the American dollar. I've been checking so when I shop I know the exchange and can pay the fair price...also why I've been brushing up on that Spanish.

Well, I've gotta run...it's haircut day for me and Nic.

Take care and see you all in about 48 hours!
