Magic 05/17/03 Norwalk Virus again? - Not.

Hi everyone....got home last night from the 5/17 cruise. I did not notice anyone getting sick all week, thankfully. We were a party of 11 with 5 teens, 4 adults and 2 babies. No sickness at all and the babies were in the Mickey pool all day, everyday. They have designated one of the "ears" of the Mickey pool for untrained babies./toddlers. This had continuously recirculatating water and seemed much cleaner than the rest of the Mickey pool.

They did close the Mickey pool on either Thur or Fri for a bit for a clean up, but I don't know of what.

There was also a "Bright Star" alert on one of the nights which is a medical emergency. We were in the dining room and the call of Bright Star, Bright Star was heard over the loud speakers. I was pretty sure that meant a medical emergency and it was confirmed by a crew member, but do not know what the medical emergency was. It could have been anything.

If I had not read Ken's post I never would have known anyone was sick that week. I saw no signs of it whatsoever and we were all over that ship and participated in just everything we could. There was a sewer type smell all week right outside of the shops on Deck 4, though.

Mjasp.....while in our taxi to Orient Beach a very nice woman asked us if we were with mmouse37!!!! It was Darwin91!! We had a nice little chat on the way to the beach. She recognized my son from one of the pics I posted. My kids just shook their heads and gave me the look.....then asked, mom, does everyone know us on the DIS????

mmouse37, thanks for letting us know about the toddler ear at the pool. At least DD will get to splash a bit if she isn't PTd by our cruise.

I changed the title of this thread to "...Norwalk Virus again? - Not" since no outbreak materialized, thank goodness. Whatever caused my friends illness (and the other guests I observed sick) was something not transmissible from person to person.

Welcome back! Darwin91 was over today for a BBQ. She was telling me she met you and family in the taxi. I said it should of been me in that taxi. I thought of all of you all week, as I went to work.

[I Luv Disney Cruise]

We are back from the 5/17 cruise. I was suprised how well I handled the cruise being 13 weeks pregnant and having 8 to 9 foot seas at times. It was great. My family of 4 saw no sicknesses on board. I started a little sore throat on Friday, due to snorkling. I always get a ear ache and sore throat after that (I have had ear surgery due to hole in ear drum 4 years ago, so I am not suprised if I get a ear/sinus infection after snorkling).

Other wise all of us are healthy. I am sorry to hear about those others that got sick. I hope it was just the "24 hour bug".

We were on this cruise... saw no problems... had no sickness (we're a family of 5)... I wouldn't jump to conclusions about every sickness being Norwalk... some people are prone to sea sickness.

We were on the cruise last week as well. There was 5 of us, and we sat with a family of 3. None of us saw anyone getting sick. We did make sure we washed our hands very frequently.

Ok, that really stinks...(literally I'm sure). You spend all that money on a trip, probably healthy the whole time beforehand, don't get seasick cause you protected yourself from it by taking Bonine, then BOOM, you get the darn bug. It just figures for some of those people. Hopefully you guys fared better.

I must say though, I sailed on RCCL's Sovereign of the seas two days after Sept. 11th. I'd rather be puking. It REALLY stunk. In hindsight, I shouldn't have gone, but I did. You just never know what the world will bring ya. Some good some bad, may be fixable, may not be. Just try and make the best of it. Hope you all feel good.
