Hey Everyone!!
I though that it after reading everyone else's wonderful planning journal, that I would add mine as well. So here it goes . . .
My name is Maggie and I am marrying my highschool sweetheart and bestfriend, Scott. We are both from Ontario, Canada, but I have spend a lot of my life in Nashville, TN as well.
I have ALWAYS been in love with Walt Disney World, and told my mom on my 13th birthday while on vacation there that I would be married in WDW one day. AND I am!!!
We have been together for about 2 1/2 years, living together for 2 of them. Scott proposed to me on Jan 6, 2007. I will post pictures or a link later once I am allowed.
So we didn't waste anytime, and in February we went to WDW and met with Kristi, our wedding coordinator. Before I go on, I just have to say that this women was wonderful. From the moment we walked into Franc's to saying goodbye she was so happy, sweet, and helpful. In addition to driving us around to the different wedding locations and filling us in on all the details--she also gave us tons of wonderful tips while visiting the parks that week. One of them was to go eat a "Kitchen Sink" from Beaches and Cream in the Beach Club Resort. It was very yummy!!
Anyways, since returning from our trip we chose our locations and times--Sea Breeze Point @ 5:00pm, then our cocktail hour & reception @ French Island Upper/Lower, Epcot--followed by illuminations, then our first dances and more dancing!
After getting this out of the way I decided to load up on bridal magazines and books etc. to clip pictures and inspiration from. After looking at so many beautiful gowns I decided to go browse some shops. I DID NOT intend to try anything on, nor pick/purchase anything. Boy was I wrong. The second store I went into the girl practically threw me in a change room and stripped me. Following this, she continued to fill the room with any and every dress that had any resemblance to my preferences. Needless to say I was overwhelmed.
After only two gowns I found one that I loved! But, being that the wedding was a year away and I that this was my second shop I told her I would come back on a different day. So a week later, me and my MOH came back. The senerio repeated itself (especially since I only tried on two the first time). This time we had allll day. Even though I explained to the the woman I wanted a big cinderella ball gown, but no beading/embroidery, she continues to bring complicated and intricate dresses. Don't get me wrong, I think the work that is put into these are beautiful, but just not for me.
Finally, I took a stroll around the racks myself, and almost immediately pulled out one that caught my eye. I tried it on. I was in love--this time with the dres. Without thinking twice I paid for half of it on the spot. It is exactly what I was looking for--and even though the saleswomen didn't find it, she was still very very friendly and helpful. Eventhough this shop is more expensive than other stores, we are still going to go there for the bridesmaid dresses all because of the service.
If any of you are interested, I will post more to come. I will create a photo site soon so that pictures will be acessible.
Thanks for "listening"
