Morning everyone!
I just got off the phone with Maggie and she's on her way to the hospital for the procedure (I wanted to be there but we decided to wait and see what kind of surgery she's facing and when before I head up there-and her family will be with her today so she's not alone). They'll run some blood work, then put her under and start things around 11am EST. They will use ultrasound equipment and a large needle to go through her back and aspirate the cyst, then test the fluid to see what caused it. It should take one to two hours, then she'll need a couple hours recovery time, and then they'll let her come home.
As painful and scary as her trip to the ER was Monday, finding out about the hernia was something that eased both our minds considerably. . . up until then there wasn't a lot explanations for the mass and where it was that didn't involve a serious problem with one of the major organs, but a tear in the mesentary can cause
mesentary fibrosis i.e. benign growths; so hopefully that is all that's wrong.
Anyway, I probably won't have much news to pass along until later this afternoon. . . I am still very concerned and nervous of course, but after 3 weeks, 4 sonograms, 2 CT scans, 9 different doctors, and a trip to the ER, I'm happy they are finally doing something to actually start treating the problem. .
Thank you all so much for the prayers and support; it means the world to both of us. . . and thanks just in general for the DIS- while I really needed and got support from those friends I told of this from the begining; Maggie needed a place to come and enjoy herself and keep her mind off things, and just having this wonderful community here certainly fulfilled the need. The "Halloween Party" thread was the weekend right after she found out there was something wrong going on, and that in particular helped a lot. . .
Anyway, I'm rambling. . . thank you all again for the continued prayers and good thoughts- I'll post an udpdate as soon as I hear something. .
