Please tell me the good and the bad....we have booked this excursion, but I have not heard to much about it.

Thank you!!!

Trish

Magens Bay is beautiful. It is in a cove with hills on three sides. It is sheltered so there are no waves. The rent floats and chairs and there is a spot to get food and drinks.
You mentioned that you are going on a tour. You may save some money by doing this on your own. the taxi ride is $6 dollars per person one way. There is a $3 charge to enter the beach, children under 12 are free.

We went there ourselves by taxi, very easy and cheaper. We went as soon as we could leave the ship and stayed till around 1:30. The beach was very enpty when we arrived started to get more people around lunch, but still not full. A beautiful beach, and calm clean waters. One thing, we noticed that the food was very high in price, we ate when we returned to the ship.

This beach sounds wonderful...Where is it?

Like Credit Man and Markey said, it is better and cheaper to do this on your own. This way, you are not stuck with the excursion's schedule.
A couple of things that we found when we did this on our own:
1. The taxi drop-off is toward the right side of the beach and that side tends to get crowded. If you don't mind the walk, go towards the left side and it's less crowded.
2. You don't have to wait for the taxi that took you there. There are lots of taxis waiting to take you back to the ship.
3. The showers are salt water.
4. If you are planning on having lunch at the beach, bring a collapsible cooler and fill it with food from room service. Food is expensive at the beach.
