Maelstrom?

That is correct.... The Snow Queen is a Danish story... The only tie that I see is that they are all Scandinavian countries.

Well, prior to Frozen there was the rumors that they wanted to make the pavilion more generically Scandinavian...

Although Hans Christian Andersen was Danish, that doesn't mean "Frozen" is set in Denmark.

The VisitNorway website points out that Disney's fictional kingdom of Arendelle is based on visual elements and cultural traditions of Norway: http://campaign.visitnorway.com/en/...rn-lights/Disneys-Frozen--inspired-by-Norway/

A conspicuous landmark of Arendelle is its Norwegian stave church, similar to (but much larger than) the stave church at the Norway pavilion at World Showcase. Visually, Arendelle is a kingdom around two centuries ago in what is today Norway.

If "Maelstrom" becomes a "Frozen" ride, it needs to get a thorough makeover, eliminating all current show scenes -- not just the current ride with an odd fictional scene thrown into what's already a disjointed attraction.

The real question is whether World Showcase should try to stay with its original mission of presenting the culture, foods, and traditions of each country, or whether World Showcase should become a giant Fantasyland with a lagoon in middle.

Leave the ride the same as is except for the sea and oil rig. Change the narration to talk about Nordic culture, stories and do a whole Frozen themed section in place of the oil rig. Then change the trolls to be Frozen trolls. Frozen fits perfect with Norway. They used Norwegian architecture, traditional dress, setting, etc.

The ride already had trolls which are fantasy and a part of the culture.

If you put anything Frozen in that ride at all - even just one Olaf - the lines will triple in length.

Maybe they could do some type intriguing model or display after the ride.

I doubt they will do anything at Norway. A major ride will come eventually elsewhere.
