Madest Thou Look!: Ye Coolest Olde PTR This Side of Thee Renaissance (December 2014)

Did u get the free dining? I'm not sure if u have disney visa, but if u dun, be sure to book on May 7th! :)

Hello! Love your report title!

I don't think that someone answered this but POP has a bus that is separate from AoA. They may share the DME busses but not park busses.

In my experience, the busses have been pretty reliable to/from Pop (I've stayed there twice). The only problem I had was one evening last year leaving MK in the mid-evening, 7ish. For some reason, the bus just didn't come for over 45min! Meanwhile, the AoA bus came and went - ugh. A lot of people in the Pop line went over and got on the AoA bus until a CM prevented people from leaving the Pop line to use the AoA bus. At this point the line was all the way down the bus stop area. That was the worst I've seen it. And I did learn that in a pinch I can use the AoA bus, though it would require a bit of a walk from AoA to Pop. Might be worth it though, depending on the situation.

I always forget to check in on PTRs but I'm in. I've always loved Disney in the winter - I've been in January and it was the best weather ever!

(Also props to a fellow B.A./M.A. English scholar!)

Thanks for the info, DexLabDeeDee! We've had pretty good luck with the Pop buses when we've stayed there in the past, but I haven't been there since AoA was finished. Good to know that (in a real pinch) I could walk over to AoA and grab a bus there! This was one of my biggest questions for the trip, and you answered it, so you totally get a gold star for today!! (Haha, wonderful prize, huh?!?!)

Hi, coloredimage! Glad to have you! You're right--there's totally something about Disney in the winter that is soooo appealing. Maybe it's the fact that you don't have sweat running down your face the entire time you're in the parks!?!? Haha! I love Disney year-round, but around Christmas is extra special!

Hey, Martinmont! Thanks for the heads-up! I had my fingers crossed for free dining during our vacation, so when I saw your message, I ran to find out more info...
Sadly, we're going in early December, which is currently one of the blackout dates. I could cry! I'm hoping that they will release more dates of free dining later in the year...could I be that lucky!?!? :confused3:

Hear ye! Hear ye!
This PTR is being hijacked to bring you another PTR!

Yes, lovely folks, that's right. I thought I was going to Disney World once this year, but due to some amazing events, I will actually be going TWICE!!!

So, rather than do another PTR (which I will surely forget about or lose--yes, lose--the internet is a totally black hole sometimes!!), I'm rolling both of them together into
The World's Most Awesome PTR EVER (now with bonus PTR)

Whew.

So, I know you're waiting on the edge of your seat to hear how this miracle occurred. Lest I be the cause of heart palpitations or other unsavory happenings because you're so excited to hear what transpired, I will plow forward with my story.

You remember my sister, Amber?

She found out about two months ago that she's going on a work trip to a conference that's being held in Orlando. Of course, I started begging to go along, since she didn't have any co-workers going with her. After several weeks of hemming and hawing on her part, she finally said that I could go, provided that I left Britton at home.

Haha, I just read that paragraph back over and it makes my sister sound like she hates both me and my baby. NOTHING could be further from the truth! She was just worried that I would be bored since she'll be in the conference everyday from 7 AM to around 3 PM, and she didn't want Britton to ride in the company car that she was taking because it is ancient and not very safe.

I told her that there was no way that I could ever be bored at Disney, even if all I did was walk around Downtown Disney for four days straight. Then, I asked my mom if she'd take care of Britton while I was gone, and she happily decided to use some of her vacation time.

So, BAM!pixiedust:

I'm going to Disney in SIX WEEKS! We'll be leaving from Charleston after my sister gets off work on Friday, June 20th and we'll be at Disney until Wednesday, June 28th. Of course, we won't be at the parks that entire time since my sister has to go to this conference, but we've still got TONS of fun stuff planned for the time she has off.

And I've already been scheming about what trouble I can get into while I'm by myself. :)

More details to come!

Arrrrggh, super jealous!!! Can't wait to see your plans! Twice in a year, girl u're lucky!! :cool1:

omgomgomgomg!! :jumping1:

That is amazing fantastic news!! So happy (and envious) of you! My DBF gets invited to a conference and its just downtown /snore.

Can't wait to hear the details!

Awesome news!! :)

Counting down the days until October is getting awfully difficult for me! ;)

I cannot believe it either! It was totally a windfall, but I won't ever turn down a trip to Disney! :goodvibes

Hahaha--last year, this same conference was in Salt Lake City...which I'm sure is a nice place and all, but it isn't DISNEY! It's like the stars lined up for this trip because this year is the first that 1) my sister has been invited to go, and 2) my sister's boss hasn't wanted to go with another employee. Yayayay for me!

Awesome news!! :)

Thanks, shannn! You're getting closer--your trip is just on the other side of summer!:cool1: How many days until your trip!?!?

Since my December PTR has now been hijacked by my June PTR, I'm going to do the June updates in purple, and the December ones in green to keep them separated. I'm weird like that, so forgive the OCD! :)

So, Sisters' Trip 2014. My sister and I are super close. When we were little, people always thought we were twins because 1) we looked alike, and 2) we were inseparable.

Things haven't changed much. We still look very similar (see below), and we still do pretty much everything together. We're three years apart, but people still think we're twins! (I do have four inches on my sister, which is an ongoing point of contention for her!!)

Britton and I

My sister and Britton

Every week, we go on a sisters' night--we go out to eat, see a movie (a recent selection was "Frozen"), take our dogs for a walk on the beach, or just eat pizza at one of our houses. It's fun, and we get time to just hang out without babies, boyfriends, or husbands.

A few years ago, we implemented the annual Sisters' Trip...which turned out to be anything but annual. We went to Disney for week in 2008, and then to Universal Islands of Adventure in 2012 to see the HP stuff there. :wizard: On that trip, we had these shirts that said "Sisters' Trip 2012" that we wore the entire time we were there. SO MANY people asked us "What sorority are you in?" (hence, the title of this segment)...uhhhh, the Sorority of Awesomeness, obvi.

My sister at WWoHP in 2012. Yes, we wore matching t-shirts and pigtails. Yes, we are in our 20s. We are cool like that!

Babies and weddings and grad school and houses and all of that have gotten in the way of us actually going somewhere every year, so I'm so excited that we're pulling together some semblance of a trip for 2014.

My sweet Britton will be staying with her dad and my mom during the trip, so it actually will be a real Sisters' Trip!:cheer2:

For this trip, I've already made some ADRs (well, one! but that's a start...) and we've got the hotel(s) all worked out, so it's all I can do not to write out ten DISboard updates right now.

However, I'm supposed to be packing and getting ready to leave on another trip tomorrow (can you tell I love traveling!??!), but the DISboards were calling for one update! (P.S. If you want to read more about all of my travels and ramblings, you can visit my blog at www.cosmosmariners.com.)

I'm in! Great start to your PTR.

The December trip sounds like a lot of fun, but the sisters trip sounds awesome too. I'm with you about not being able to be bored by myself at Disney. Even if I didn't enter the parks, I'd have a blast exploring as many resorts as possible, riding on the monorail, driving over to the Disney outlets, eating fun meals, or even just sitting on a bench and people watching in Downtown Disney :)

Hi, MarbleBob! I'm glad you're joining up--the more, the merrier! :)

WHO could be bored at Disney!?!? I plan on entertaining myself beautifully while my sister's actually in the conference (until about 3 PM each day). When I first found out that I was going with her, I thought I might hang out by the pool until she was finished each afternoon...until I came to my senses and realized that I was going to be IN DISNEY WORLD. No sunbathing/ resting/ downtime allowed! :rotfl:

I've never been to Disney when I've had the chance to wander around by myself, so this will be a fun trip with lots of firsts!

Joining in!
I love the name of your trip report... and your screen name as well.
Your daughter is adorable.

Glad to have you along for the ride, Annegirl! (Also, please tell me that your screenname is an homage to Anne of Green Gables!! I LOVED those books when I was little--and when my parents decided to take us to Prince Edward Island when I was 11, I thought I had died and gone to heaven:))

It is! I fell in love with the Anne books in 3rd grade... And then the movies and the rest of L.M's books. I love PEI! I didn't go until I was 22 and now I have been there twice. It is so beautiful!
And since my middle name is Anne I always related to that part of the story. :)

My DW is a big fan of Anne of Green Gables too. She's read all the books and made me watch the movies too (on more than one occasion - and those suckers are long.) I may be one of the only guys to ever watch the movies as well as the Tales of Avonlea episodes. I'm not particularly proud of this, but a friend did suggest that I become one of the founding members of the "Anne of Green Gables Man Club". Hehe :cool1:

Lots of kindred spirits on the DISboards :cool2:

Nice! My dad and my husband could be added to that club too. We love road to avonlea as well.

lol. I love Anne of Green Gables! Hinted I wanted the movies on DVD for Christmas...DBF got me the first season of Road to Avonlea instead. :rotfl: Oh well it was kind of close!

I agree, its nice finding so many kindred spirits on the DIS(and not just for Disney!) :grouphug:
