made the BEST chicken breasts EVER last night....

I've done that with spaghetti sauce and meatballs - more than once. The sauce is too hot and I totally forget about it by later in the evening and find it still on the stovetop the next morning, a total waste. Now, I leave the stove light on to remind myself that there is something over there that needs taking care of. :)

Ooohh, I make those too. In our house, we call them "chicken bites." They are cut up in smaller pieces. I use crushed Ritz crackers instead of pretzels. Very yummy! :goodvibes

Perhaps your mistake will end up being a recipe some of us DIS's love! Just think without your mistake, we would not have heard about this recipe. Thanks!

Aww, you're so nice. Glad it worked out for something good!

Oooh, sounds yummy, too. Great idea about the stove light, thanks!!

I love Ritz crackers! I think I'll try them next!! When I definitely remember to remove ALL the chicken! ;)

I always bake them, usually in a glass baking dish. Its a tasty coating for other things too, including fish like flounder, grouper or tilapia.

ok for the people who do not bake chicken here :rotfl2:

need some more specifics.
what temp?
how long normally,,,,,,,
do you bake covered or uncovered
do you flip them over during cooking?

thanks :worship:

I too clicked on this site to get the recipe ... thank you for sharing, it sounds delicious! And something my picky eaters would eat! :thumbsup2

Sorry about the chicken. To make you feel better, I have done the same thing with pork chops. I think what made me upset was that I forgot ... not the loss of the food. It happened on one of those days 100 things were going on ... and of course I was thinking to myself, whew, got through the day and did it all ... (not! :upsidedow).

Been there done that.....we had a birthday party once and I was busy trying to keep everyone entertained and chatting with all the guest. I completely forgot we had another tray of bbq sandwiches in the oven, staying warm. We found them later that night when we were cleaning up and I guess we tossed probably 20 or so bbq sandwiches :( Sad, so sad to waste that much bbq.

I've also forgotten that I had birthday cakes 'hid' in the oven before too, with the oven turned off. I turned the oven on to cook something and within a few minutes you start smelling something....umm, melted birthday cake anyone LOL

We have all been in your shoes. When I am waiting for something to cool before putting in the fridge, I set my timer so I don't forget about it.

Thanks for the recipe.....I'll definitely be trying it out...when it gets cooler. Too hot to use the oven now. Why is it this hot this early???

My forgotten food saga - I once left a pint of chocolate ice cream in my purse overnight. Seriously.

:rotfl2:Why on earth would you have ice cream in your purse?!? :lmao:

To the OP...thanks, now i know what to make for dinner tomorrow!

My DH works for a big chicken company and he you have said toss them. He has to deal with food safety alot and he gets on to my about leaving things out to thaw. I have to thaw overnight in the fridge or i put it in cold water in the sink takes about an hour to thaw. Thanks for the new idea how to fix chicken since I have a freezer full! :thumbsup2

I agree with the PP, I think we have all done the same at one time or another. Some of us more than others :sad2:

I'm going to have to try your chicken recipe, it sounds yummy.

I've done this as well, except we had leftover cake with aluminum foil on it and I ruined my beloved above the stove microwave and oven combo and hubby refuses to spend the money on another one. Our oven part works but we had to buy a cheapo microwave that sits on the counter.

OP here :)

Thanks so much everyoone for ALL of your replies! I'm surprised at how many of you have also forgotten food, too! Thanks for making me feel better! :rotfl2:

And regarding the recipe, it really IS an easy one, and tasty. The adults love it as much as the kids. Must be the extra salt LOL, soo don't need it but yumm :)

Planet Hollywood....had this chicken coated in Captain Crunch.....yum yum yum. I like using Corn Flakes but I'm definitely going to have to try the pretzels.

My boss got some of us pints of ice cream from a local creamery. He put them in the breakroom freezer and when it was time for me to leave for the day I grabbed my pint and threw it in my purse. Well, out of sight/out of mind.

I didn't notice it until the next morning. Thankfully the lid had a good seal so it didn't leak everywhere. Lesson: When someone gives you ice cream eat it right away!

OMG! I did the same exact thing! :rotfl2:

The chicken recipe does sound good! I think my mom does something similar, but with corn flakes instead of pretzels.

Tried the pretzel chicken tonight. It was delicious! DD asked for the recipe. Thanks OP!!!
