Segmented a 4 day stay made on-line into two 2-day reservations since the dining plan is planned for only part of the stay. Happened to pull the reservations up on-line and it looks like member services combined the days into 1 reservation without even asking! Was not planning to call to have the dining plan added until about a week before check-in. Guess we should have done that earlier. Was surprised that they altered the reservations without asking or notification though.

You're not allowed to segment reservations solely for dining plan purposes. For your plan to work, you would have had to change resorts, room types or views.

Was afraid it might not be allowed. Guess no dining plan then. With a late check-in and fairly early check-out there isn't time for that many meals. Can't seem to find any desirable 2 credit meals either.

I've had MS combine reservations for the same trip in my account also. I was always glad, as that meant I didn't have to waste time calling to ask them to combine the reservations.

How long was it between making your reservations and the time that MS combined them?

I was finally able to string 5 nights together for the beginning of F&W but due to availability and the fact that I have an Oct. UY, they are 2-2-1 nights. I'm hoping to change resorts for 2 of those nights if it becomes available but if MS combines all of them into one reservation, I will lose the ability to switch the middle 2 nights. I'm just wondering how long I will have before I lose that ability?

The really interesting thing is that a few years ago, I had the opposite situation occur to me. Not sure why. We were staying at Animal Kingdom villas before Kidani village was open. I rented one room for my family, and another for my brother's for a particular span of time. Then, later, I extended my family's stay for another 2 days (my brother's family was arriving Monday, and we arrived Saturday). We had two separate reservation numbers for our stay. I was concerned that they were going to have us change room, but, no, we stayed in the same room. The only minor irritation is that they never sent us a receipt for the first part of our reservation--we had to go down to the desk to get it. I like to review the bill for charges to the room, so, it was important to me. They must have changed the policy in the interim, because I just changed a reservation from June to March (end of school year vs spring break), and it was for a different number of days, and we kept the same reservation number. I have changed resorts, also, and kept the same reservation number (suits me fine, because we don't do the dining plan every time).

Not sure since I wasn't checking on the reservations regularly. I think they must have been separate for at least a month and it may have been after I added Magical Express info (after purchasing flights) on-line it alerted them to the segmented reservation bc it was shortly after that I noticed the reservation was now one. Although I didn't necessarily check if it was still segmented right before submitting the Magical Express info.
