Made My FP+ Ressies Today!

I definitely agree the site could be improved by letting you pick your preferred times in the first place, letting you pick times on the :15, and letting you pick less than 3 if you wish. I was just SO thrilled not to experience any of the glitchiness, error messages, etc. that I've read about that I am choosing to overlook those inconveniences. And, of course, I wholeheartedly wish I could have more FPs (esp. at MK!) and no tiering. Oh well. Maybe someday!

I booked mine today and had no problems. One thing I didn't like was that I didn't have any options on the :15, which someone else mentioned. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying.

I also thought it was weird that for AK there were only two FP's that I wanted, but it gave me a third anyway. I find this odd b/c we are definitely not going to use. It just seems a waste to me. Why take up someone else's spot when I really don't need it? Seems they should just let you do only 1 or 2 if that's all you want and need.

It does make you choose three at the outset, but now that you have them, you can go back in and cancel just the one that you don't want. That way you aren't taking up a spot that someone else might want.

Be aware, though, that if you change your mind later and want to go back to having three FP, you will need to start over and select all three which may or may not allow you to get your "original" two again, depending on availability. Based on reports, I wouldn't think that you would get shut out of anything, but it's something to know.

I just made mine today as well. A few of the days I have no idea where we are going to be so I just picked MK because that is the park that has the most options.

I didn't like the options for EP. I just picked 1 headliner and then 2 others.....I really don't think that we will need FP for Journey Into the Imagination or Living with the Land ;) But I didn't want to not have something.

It was hard to pick times. I really have no idea what time we are going to be where. But I guess we can change them (hopefully) once we are in the park and see where we are at.

I mixed up morning and evening times between the days. Again if we get to the parks and the wait times are not bad we can change to later in the day.

I did the same thing as the OP. Booked non-preferred times and then changed the time for what I really wanted. It was very easy and no problem at all.

The next part is seeing how this all work while we are down there.;)

I changed the times immediately after I initially booked them.

So, first, I picked the three attractions I wanted. It asked me to "prioritize" them, which I just ignored. Maybe that serves a purpose if you are booking close to your trip and there aren't a lot of times available anymore, but I don't think it matters if you are booking at 60 days.

Then it gives you 4 sets of "Options," none of which are likely to resemble what you actually want to do. Pick an Option where the times are the most inconvenient for you. This may be counter-intuitive, but the reason is that I understand it won't let you overlap FP+ times so, for example, if it wants to give you Splash at 10am and Space at 2pm, and coincidentally you want those attractions, but at opposite times, you don't want to pick that option because, if you do, then when you go to change Space to 10am, it won't let you because you already have a ressie at that time. You would still be able to change it around, but it would take you more steps. So you are better off choosing a different option, like one where Splash is at 6pm and Space is at 8pm because then it will be easier to change them to the times you want once you get to that step.

So, after you've chosen an inconvenient set of options and it congratulates you for booking them, there is a button that I can't remember exactly what it says, but it is very obvious, like "Modify this FP+ Option." Click that button and it takes you to a screen that is actually helpful. For each of your FP+ options for that day, you can use a drop-down menu to select the timeframe you actually want. Most of the options are on the hour or half hour. Sometimes there was something on the :15 or :20, but for me that was very rare. I was able to change all 3 for the day at once and it was easy.

The same screen also gives you the option to change the time for only a portion of your party, and you get to pick which people you want to change. So, in the once case where I split my party, I had originally booked us all for Space at a time I didn't want, 10am. However, DS4 is too short to ride. So I selected 3 of my party and changed the time to 5pm, the time I really did want. Then I had 3 of us on Space at 10am and 3 of us on Space at 5pm. So then I went to modify the Space at 10am selection. There is a button to Change the Attraction, so I changed it to Tomorrowland Speedway. Then I changed the time to 5pm. Ultimately, I now have 3 of us on Space at 5pm and 3 of us on Tomorrowland Speedway at 5pm. It sounds complicated, but it was really much easier than I expected.

Good luck!

I want to thank you so much for this clear step by step view! This is the first time I feel like i kind of know what to do when my 60 days arrive! I really appreciate your effort to write all this out!

Question- I know that you get 3 attraction FP+, and that fastpassing BOG lunch doesn't count towards those. Are there any other things you can FP+ that don't count towards the 3 attraction ones.

BOG is a 'bonus' FP+? Really? I'd better subscribe to this thread. That's at least 4 things I've found out today on here that I didn't know when I got up this morning :rotfl: So dumb question, but if it doesn't count, how do you book it on MDE? I mean if it's not one of the three you get for the day, where do you 'find' it?

We have a 3 week trip this year. I'm wondering if I need to take a few days off work to deal with this :rotfl2:

There's a separate website for it. I don't have the link handy and am on my iPad, but i found it off this a couple weeks ago. Do a search it will pop up.

Thank you for the instructions, I am keeping them handy for when it is time to book ours. A few q's:

How long did it take you, and did you use a pc or your phone? I"m wondering if this is something I will have to do first thing when I wake up in the am on day 60 when it opens or if I can do it later in the day after work.

Also, do the magic bands come by mail before or after you are 60 days out?

Thanks so much!!

Thank you so much. My DD asked about it this weekend but when I mentioned FP+ she said she was not skipping any rides for a meal :rotfl2:

We're staying off-site (Orange Lake) our first week and then at POR for five nights. We're buying our tickets through AAA. So, how will I book our FP+? 60 days before we check in at POR or through the "other site?"
I think I already miss the old system because it seems like one more thing to plan. Ugh!

For those looking for Be Our Guest fast passes: watch the email you linked to MDX(MDE?). I got a FP+ email opportunity the day of travel and didn't see it until I returned home. A friend there at the same time, found theirs on the last day .

Depending on the time of year traveling, you could very well need FPs for Journey into Imagination and Living with the Land. We saw 20 minute waits for both! It was rather astonishing, when you think of how many times you'd previously walked onto an empty waiting boat, to see the line snaking through all those queue lines. Figment was out the door. Bewildering to these of us who have been there before and know the experience hasn't changed!

Hi there. This is the OP and I just wanted to answer a few questions that came up in this thread.

Here is the link to the BOG lunch FP+: https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com/ It is not yet letting me book for my dates the first week of May. My understanding is that there is not a set number of days prior to your desired date that you can book--you just have to keep checking to see when it opens up. It seems people usually post on the Restaurant board of this site when a new time block opens up.

I am not aware of any other "FP+" besides BOG lunch that is in addition to your 3 allotted FP+/day.

FP+ cannot currently be reserved ahead of time for guests staying offsite. Offsite guests must wait until they arrive at the park and make their FP+ using the kiosks. I think they can also do it with CMs carrying iPads for this purpose. To the person staying part offsite and part on, I believe you will have to wait until 60 days prior to your onsite ressie before you can book FP+. You will have to have your park tickets linked to your reservation on MDE. My understanding is that you will still have plenty of selections for times, so no worries.

I made the FP+ ressies from my desktop. I haven't tried it on my phone, but I just have to imagine it is easier to do on a desktop. To the person who asked, I think you will be just fine to wait and do it in the evening on the day your 60 day window opens--there is no need to do it in the wee morning hours.

Magic bands don't get shipped until, I believe, 30 days prior to your arrival onsite, so I made the FP+ ressies before receiving our MBs.

Not everyone would want to take my approach, but I admit I spent weeks planning out detailed touring plans for each park in anticipation of making my FP+ ressies, so I am going into it with a fair degree of confidence, which I think is wise, given another post I just saw about the glitches that can result from trying to change your FP+ using the mobile app while you are at WDW. Clearly, the system should be improved but, until it is, it seems careful planning is the best way to minimize the changes you will have to make, although surely unanticipated things may come up necessitating changes, unfortunately. I sure hope all my careful planning will pay off in May! :thumbsup2
