Made my 1st rez, waitlist chances?

Made my ist rez at VWL, studio for last week in July. Got 3 of 4 nights. Waitlisted for 1 night. Also waitlisted for 1)BWV, whatever view available and 2)BCV for the same 5 days. What are my chances af getting any of these? I really want to stay at BWV. Thanks

Not sure about your chances but remember that the wait list is good for up to 31 days before check in. At the 30 day mark you have to call and ask MS to extend it. Then it will run up to 7 days before check in. It also won't hurt to call every once in a while just to see how things are going with the wait. You may get lucky.

How often should I check in? I know about the 31 day thing. MS told me. How often do these waitlists come through? I have another 4 weeks before I have to cancel one. Thanks

I have been very lucky with waitlists. I even got a reservation less than 7 days in advance after the WL ended!

What do you mean you have to "cancel one"? I thought you only had one reservation and that was at VWL for 3 out of 4 nights. Do you have a plan for that 4th night if the WL doesn't come though? Will you cancel your trip or book at another resort?

You can remain in the WL between 30 and 7 days before your dates and transfer your points from the VWL reservation to the new one. Just make sure that you have them call you after the 31 day mark and not automatically book the waitlisted days! I think you'll be fine as long as you have a back-up plan. Perhaps you may want to waitlist for the 4th day on it'a own at all resorts or book at OKW just so you have something.

I was in a similar situation for my first trip home!! I wanted a VWL studio for June 6, 7, 8, and 9. I was only able to get the 8th and 9th and had to waitlist for the other 2 nights. About 2 weeks ago I was really starting to get nervous about this!! (I had waitlisted for a 4 night consecutive stay at any DVC and was hearing nothing!) Anyway, I decided to call MS and the cast member put me on hold for quite a long time after I had asked the status of the 6th and 7th. Finally, she came back, apologized, and indicated that she was unable to secure the reservation. At that point she looked at her computer screen, and said she was unable to get the two nights over the phone because my waitlist had come through!! I then confirmed it on the spot! Talk about timing!! So, if you hang in there, I think you will get it!! Most of the posts on this board seem to be success stories with the wait list!! Good luck!!!

I have been successful 100% of the time when I waitlisted. But, as one poster said, you should have a backup plan for any extra nights. I don't know if my track record would fare so well if I was trying for time in December or April. But, I've done it in June, July and October and it always came through. Good luck.
